I just noticed this morning that on my black leather and alcantara seats, my driver side bolster has some small cracking in it. My 2010 has only 9700 miles on it, is this something that would be covered under warranty? I keep Griots leather conditioner on it, so I'm only to think its crapy leather. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks
David

sounds like wear and tear. your best bet is to go to the dealership, and have them determine if it is warrantable.

Ya, I'll try to go and take a quick picture of it tonight. My biggest worry is that if its already starting to crackle at this point, what will it look like at 20k, and 50K miles?

Agreed. Cracking @ 9700 miles doesn't necessarily inspire confidence . . .

Hmmm.... So fat at 10k I dont have cracking. A little bit of a crease but I leather mastered my leather and everything looks better. I saw a dealership customers S6 and his seats were incredibly worn at 30k miles on the entry side of the driver seat. If you dont take proper care of these seats they will get pretty bad. I spent the money on the leather masters it from Phil just to make sure I didnt get issues early

I have a little bit too...30 K in though, or 2 years of daily driving.

I think it is wear and tear...rivets from jeans, etc.

I am going to ask the dealer as well.

I have the same issue on my S5.....2 1/2 yrs old and 45 000 Km. Took it into the dealership last week to get the back-up camera fixed, and got the service manager to take a look at the leather.

They have replacement leather for the side bolster on order, and are going to replace it under warranty for me. They agreed that it shouldn't be cracking after such a short period of time.

Might be covered in the first year if it is excessive.

2010S4 here with 52,000 km and mine looks brand new. I would insist on a repair. My 08 S2000 has some minor wear on the edge at 50,000 km, however, my 07 GTI has 183,000 km with zero wear. I expect the same from my S4 based on the condition they are in today. Good luck.

If its on the outside bolster closest to the door thats from squishing it every time you get in the car. Depending on body shape you might squish it more or less. Also depends on how you have the seat back. If its in a "lean back" position, youre less likely to rub against the bolster. If you sit more vertical then its more likely to be rubbed a lot every time you get in and out of the car. My biggest wear issue is my steering wheel. I have it pulled out a bit and down. Every time I get in the car my pants on the side rub against it. I have several scratch marks in the leather on the wheel. The worst is you can feel them when youre holding steering wheel. Kind of like burned skin on the roof of your mouth, it bothers you to touch it but you cant stop doing it.

If its on the inside bolster then thats more unusual and should get that looked at.
