Wasup guys,
I ran into a pretty big issue this evening. I go to change my spacer setup to a new set of 20mm's with 45mm bolts. Everything was fine with the installation and I touched nothing but the wheels and spacers. Did not turn the car on or even pull on the E-brake to do all 4 wheels. I go to take the car for a test run and the car doesn't move... doesn't even budge. After an in depth investigation of all four calipers I come to realize the front calipers locked on me...

Drive, Reverse, Neutral... car wont move in any gear... The brake pedal is pressured meaning when i press down on it there's enough back-force to feel that something is not right and the brake is already pressured. All I could think of was the Parking Brake line but i heard those only act up in severely cold weather and they "freeze up"... Im in Jersey and enjoying 89 degree weather.

I jacked up the car removed the front wheel to confirm that the caliper is indeed clamped and locked (couldn't even move with a screwdriver), and then when i did it with the back wheels they moved fine. My neighbor is a mechanic and told me that its because my front brake pads are low and they naturally pressurized and locked... This confused the sh** out of me... He said the only solution as of now is to get new pads and put them on, he said even if I bleed them that they will lock again...

Any insight or past experience stories would be useful, as I hope to wake up in the morning and solve this issue. Thanks a lot in advance

Your new bolts are too long, it happened to me before. Get a set of shorter bolts and your problem is solved.

It only affects the front tho. I had spacers on there that were about 3mm larger before. That much difference will cause the front calipers to siege?!? You suggest 40mm bolts?

It's not the calipers, your new bolts are too long and hitting the part behind your caliper causing the wheel to lock up. Mine was too long by only 2 or 3 mm and I had the same problem on one wheel.

Are the spacers on there now thicker or thinner? If thinner, then the bolts will protrude through the wheel hub and hit the bearing housing.

the calipers are not seized. the wheel bolts are sticking too far through the hub and are caught on the knuckle. get shorter bolts and they will clear.

Appreciate it everyone. Makes a lot of sense. I heard a few people say that 45mm bolts were good for 20mm spacers but I guess they were wrong (at least with the A6). Thanks again

Basically what everyone else have said so far. Remove the spacer and you'll be able to turn the wheel. And I wouldn't trust that mechanic neighbor of yours.

if he took the wheel off and it still didn't budge it could be the brakes. with bolts being to long they should at least move a bit until the lug hits whats stopping it but you're saying it wont move at all?
