yes, i bought it without the gauge preinstalled into a vent. when i took the vent off the car, all of the vent fins came loose. contrary to what the website says, it was pretty easy to get all the fins back in line and connected. the whole process took about 45 minutes.

I think the IAT shows the same temp as the coolant.
