So when I go to Sirus, it says technical antenna error... anyone else?

I had the antenna replaced on my B8 S4 under warranty. The symptoms were no Sirius radio, the MMI said "Linking... Not Linking..." but there was no report of a "technical antenna error". Also though the navigation seemed to work, it reported "0 satellites in view" in the Nav info screen. I was concerned about replacing the antenna due to potential for leaks, paint damage, headliner issues, etc. so the dealer tried replacing other units first. Ultimately had to replace the antenna and all is fixed with no issues. The original painted antenna cover was reused, so no issues with painting either.

Not sure how everyone else's antenna works but here in NY when im on Sirius, it often goes out and back on when going under a small bridge, train pretty much anything else. My friends have cars that range from BMW, to Infiniti and Mercedes and it seems im the only one with this issue.

Does anyone else encounter a similar problem?

I had this issue and mine was in the shop a couple of times. The Sirius would cut out after the car had been on for about 5 mins. They ended up replacing the antenna after the second visit. Problem solved.

Yes. Under every bridge, overpass etc. What I do notice is that, often, the drop out occurs about 1-2 seconds after going under the overpass giving me the belief that there is some sort of data buffering going on. Maybe they should increase this buffer if there is one which could remedy the drop out.
