I have 98 audi a6 avant quattro, my radio has power, it turns on and in safe mode. But i can not enter any codes!

MY question is... is there a way to get radio out of lock out mode so i can enter codes.

1. Perhaps disconnect radio, then re install it, will this work?

2. Perhaps disconnect battery, will this work?

3. If i purchase the same radio from some one else, and install will it be unlocked? whose code will i use?

4. LAST RESORT is i will go to aftermarket radio.

heres my email, [email protected], or call me please, but not with unknown number i wont pick up. 301-346-1131

bump...i ran into similar issue. I was able to enter a code twice, but somehow I entered the wrong code twice (thought I had it memorized. fuuuuuuu), now I can't even get it to the point where I can enter a code anymore. :(

You have to push fm2 and Rds button, if nothing happens,
Disconnect the batter or radio

Your radio will lock for 1 hour after entering the wrong code twice. (one hour of the key in the on postion with the radio on)

I've had this happen, and I thought the radio locked permanently....it took significantly longer than an hour to unlock and allow the code. I left the key in overnight actually. I bought a replacement OEM radio (new) and the day before it was delivered the radio spontaneously unlocked (about 4 days had passed) and I didn't even have to enter the code.
So...I have a new radio if you need it! :)

I also have the same with my A4 and I lost the code. Do I go to the dealership to get a code?

(new member) I have searched all over.. Seen so many ways to enter a code and none have worked never got to the 1000. I did hover notice a 2:00hr come on the display instead of the fuel range. Weather that is related or not. I have a 2000 A6 4.2 Quattro. Any help with this would be amazing. Thank you in advance.:-)

I have read somewhere that if you take out the radio the long num on it it's the last four nums
