All real sound damping material is foil on the back. The only black one I know of (and very high quality) is this: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/products/Acoustic-Car-Audio-Noise-Reduction.php

If it's subject to damage and you don't want to ruin the surface, you'll have to coat it.

Second skins the way to go they have the roll on type sound deadner if your not looking for the foil type I use both in my c5
