Today I test drove what is advertised as a 2002 A6 4.2.
The car was sitting lower (on 17" wheels) than a normal A6, fender flares MUCH more pronounced.
Suspension MUCH firmer than A6.
It has a RS6 label on the trunk lid.
VIN: WAUML64B62N024877
Engine module: 4D0 907 560 CE
Component: 4.2L V8/5V G 0002
Coding: 07752
The car had all kinds of engine (and other) codes, so it was not possible to judge.
I was thinking it may be an S6, but now learned that the S6 was only available here in the Avant version.
What car/model did I drive?
I was thi

probably just a a6 4.2 with the sport package. All the 4.2's have the wider bodies.

RS6 has much more aggressive bumpers and side skirts, twin turbo motor, recaro seats, nicer steering wheel, only 2003 models
S6 was only a wagon
all had wide fenders
I agree with MNR4.2
the VIN is interesting though, I thought all Audis were AUZ but that is AUM

All sport seats were made by recaro and the RS6 just had the standard US C5 sport seats of which Recaro was the OEM.
The VIN for an RS6 also beings WUA Not WAU

^the seats say Recaro on them in the RS6 right? Or does it just Say RS6 and the rest are plain? I know they are the same seat but there was something minor different about the RS6 ones iirc.
Good info about the VIN, the UA I assume is for the car coming from the quattro plant and not a regular Audi plant?

Only the Factory European Recaro seating has "Recaro" embossed. The RS6 seats differ from sport seat with "RS6" embossing on the seat back and has silver piping on the seams of the seat covers. Other than cosmetic differences the seats are identical.
However your also correct as the OEM for the seats was Recaro, remove the seat covers and foams and there are Recaro GMBH stickers everywhere.
WAU = Made in Germany By Audi AG
WUA = Made in Germany by Quattro GMBH

That car is an A6 4.2, it's clear from the pictures in the ad.

Is "sport package" = to "S Line".
Suspension part of sport package?

It's not that cut and dry. I belive the Sline package (2003 and 2004) contained sport suspension and sport wheel, and possibly sport seats.
For previous years those three options are seperate. IE you can have non sport suspension with sport seats and non sport wheel and any combination thereof.
