Hmmm, would B6 perches work on all 4 corners of a B5 S4? Mine's too low due to aftermarket springs.

wow amazing, something I would definitely consider. I was thinking, before and after from a front corner perspective would maybe do better justice, but the side view is more than enough proof for me. nice.

AA or Jason,
Do you know if these perches are the same from a late '01 S4? This looks like a perfect solution for my '04 S4 on Koni's and stock springs and I just happen to have the old stock suspension from my old B5 S4 which has all of 30K miles on it and is in great shape.

thanks.

Cheers,
Jim

Jim,

They should all be the same. Only thing that changed over the years on the B5 S4 suspension was early '00 models had aluminum uprights and the ball joint was smaller in the lower front control arm.

Later models got steel uprights with the larger ball joint. Shocks, springs, and the rest of the suspension was all the same.

I hope this helps!

anyone know if the 2000 A6 is at all the same seat / perch as the A4? Found a local guy that has some, I doubt they're the same, just a shot in the dark.

if anyone can answer this, I would consider a swap.

B6 cars don't have perches in the rear suspension. The spring sits separate from the shock, unlike the B5 which has a coilover design.

ECS I'm looking for a small drop up front just like the OP. Can you confirm if these will give any drop up front on a B7 or is this just an OEM replacement part? Thank you!!! http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B7_S4--V8/Suspension/OEM/ES436988/

That is an OEM replacement part. The part you need that the OP has is below.

Thanks for the quick response! So these also fit the B7 too huh? Just awesome. I want to eventually move to an adjustable coilover system but just don't have the funds right now. This seems like a great solution to bring down my front end wheel gap a bit until I can purchase the coilovers. Much appreciated guys!

They should. I'm pretty sure the B6/B7 suspension are very similar if not identical but we can't 100% guarantee since we haven't tested them on a B7.

Thanks Jason. At this price I may have to be your guinea pig.

Altavant, thanks for the great info in this post. Can you let us know if/how this has affected ride quality etc.? Thanks again!

I did not notice any difference in ride quality...other than looking cooler!

if anyone wants to trade my early 2000 s4 "vented" spring perches for a set of solid ones send me a PM.

So if I wanted to lower the front of my B6 S4 just that little bit... this is all I need? No additional parts?

altavant

Correct. Just the b5 perches and the labor.

Will a wheel alignment be required afterwards? Yes?

I don't know about required, but an annual alignment and (off topic) frequent wheel balancing never hurts.

I know, it's just that I got my wheel alignment done two weeks ago. :p

I would probably go ahead and have it done again if you plan on doing this. Camber wont change much but your toe setting could be off slightly.

Jason, I have 2003 B6 A4 Avant 1.8T quattro 5 psd. Factory Sport suspension. Bought the B5 perches above to correct the 'negative perch' (front higher than rear).
Wanted to install today: B5 perch does NOT fit over shock. Shock diameter (51mm or so) larger than ID of new perch. Any explanation?

B5 perches are meant to be used with B6 OEM shocks not Bilsteins.

Will the B5 perches work on a B8 w/ stock sport suspension?

I'm not sure. This would be something you would need to test yourself. It would depend on whether or not the shock bodies have similar sizes as well as the ID/OD of the base of the spring.

How about with OEM B6 sport suspension (no USP package)?

Should work with any B6/B7 OEM suspension.

Well, it does NOT. See measurement and photos above. Its is a 2003 A4 B6 quattro manual Avant, B6 sport suspension

Those are Bilstein shocks.. They have a much thicker shock body than an OEM shock. As I said they should work with any B6/B7 OEM meaning Genuine Audi shocks.

It might have sport springs. But those are definitely not OEM sport shocks, OEM Genuine Audi sport shocks are red.

Bilsteins/ Koni are yellow.

Looks like mine are Bilstein. What diameter are the red Audi sport shocks?
Is there perch that fits the Bilstein and fixes the negative rake? Or can the ECS B5 perches be machined out to fit over the Bilstein?

No. These are from a B5 so they wouldn't have any effect on B5 suspension.

Unfortunately I do not have a measurement for a b5 sport shock. We do not have any in stock to measure. Might have to request that from a fellow member.

No perch that I am aware of that will fit bilstein shocks. Also these are a Genuine Audi piece not a part made by us. I do not think that they can be machined either. This mod only works specifically for B6/B7 S4's

Looks great! To be clear, you can only do the perches to lower the front suspension, correct? Got my B6 not too long ago so I'm not intimately familiar with the suspension setup(s) yet...
