I have an issue with my ABS. My right rear brake assembly locked up due to a seized slider pin on the carrier. The car sat for 2 weeks because I also went ahead and put my S4 bumper on. It's a 1999.5 AEB qm. I put new rotors on the rear and pads. Greased everything up good and made sure to clean off the film on the rotors. yaddy yaddy yaddy. I took the car out and I touched the brakes to slow down around a corner. Everything was great. Then I kind of short stopped for a stop sign and to get the brakes broken in. The ABS light came on. Since I have had the car the pad light is on in the center of the cluster due to no wires on the pads. After the light came on I took it out on an open road and did some "emergency" braking to see what's up with the ABS. The wheels just locked up meaning no ABS. Any ideas?

The car is jacked up with the s4 bumper. Ten points goes to the person who can spot the car in the last picture with the rx7. ;)

^Yo no se

To the OP, the rear should not have brake pad wear sensors. Only the fronts do, as far as I know. You can loop the 2 wires for the brake pad sensor, and it will go away. If it doesn't, then you have a different issue. You can hack your stock harness (some would say not to do this, just to keep your harness intact) or loop the 2 wires from the brake pad side of the connection and leave it plugged into your harness. This is how I have mine setup. ECS also sells the little loops.

Can't really help you with your ABS issue. No ABS light?

Your control module is probably dead. You can get it rebuilt for about 50 bucks or so. I would vagcom it first though and what code it brings.

You probably pulled the rear wheel speed sensor too far out of the housing when doing the repair, so now it cant see wheel speed. When yuou start the car does it flash and beep or just illuminate?

It just stays on. No flashing and no beeping. From my searches if it's the module you would get three beeps. Where is the wire for the speed sensor? I'm going to put it on the lift tomorrow and check it out.

You have an ABS sensor for each wheel, in each upright/spindle. Really can't miss them. Not sure if VAG com can tell you which one is faulty or not.

You saying VAg Com can tell you which one is faulty? Please, do tell. I have my light come on every now and then, and I suspect my front passengers side because I replaced it a couple months ago (logical answer). It does not bother me much (it only happens every now and then, and usually resets itself right after. so, light is no longer there after it fixes itself), but I don't want to be at an inspection one day and have the light all of a sudden pop up. Won't be a good look.

Pardon for thread jack!

Yea the vag will tell you which is faulty. Sometimes they just need to be tapped in a little to get them close enough to the collector riing. Dont go too far, bc theres no stops so it will go until it contacts the wheel, and you will destroy the sensor.

Good news, car fixed itself over night. Got in it this morning, no abs light. I slammed the brakes and abs definitely works now. Thanks audizine!
