Hey, this is very odd and very concerning.
Basically, I last drove about ten days ago, everything was normal. I try to start the car tonight, and the engine doesn't turn over, but there's a rapid clicking (sounds like it's coming from in front of me, dash area), fairly loud while I have the key turned all the way to the starter position. I tried a few times, and while fruitlessly looking through the manual (with my foot having been on the brake pedal the entire time), it started beeping and flashing the BRAKE light.

I can't see any blown fuses, the headlights came on at first (I've since turned the switch off), the AC turns on the blower, and it's defs a legitimate key. I've seen the electronic demobilizer, and this isn't it. Interestingly, the radio won't turn on, and the wipers never rest at the bottom of the windscreen.

:/

Thanks

DOOOD, your battery is dead. Get a jump. Let it run for an hour. or bring it to autozone and have them charge it. But a jump will do fine.

This. You may also want to check your battery terminals, they may be loose.

thanks, I'll take a deep breath. I always thought that a low battery was it turning over but just not having enough juice to overcome the inertia, and perhaps that the battery level warning light would come on...

\\\Thx

that clicking sound is usually a dead giveaway that your battery is dead. And since the car sat for 10 days, im not surprised that the battery is dead...

The battery wont just die from sitting for 10 days, there are defiantly underlying issues that killed the battery, or maybe the damn thing is just old and was ready to die anyways. Make sure all the contacts are clean and tight.

Letting the car idle for an hour to charge a $100 part (battery) is not advisable, take it to a shop and have them do a test and charge it for you.

I’m in the same situation, battery died last week so I had it jumped. My local Audi dealer wants $175 for a new battery and VW dealer is $120 for the same part #. I’ll be picking it up this afternoon and will hopefully install with new spark plugs today after work. Hopefully it’s only your battery as well. Good luck.

why in the hell would you go to an Audi dealer for a battery ?????????? that's just retarded.

btw, I got a great laugh from this thread!!! DUDDDEEEEEEEE I THINK MY MOTORS BLOWN. And yes a battery can die from sitting out for ten days, how do you know headlights were not left on, or an interior light was left on, or a gps left on inside the car, etc.

Get a new battery, let it sit for a few days (if you can), if it starts back up than your fine, no drainage issue. If you get the same problem, than you may need to take it over to the dealer and have it looked at.

If I was you I'd check the blinker fluid and it's possible your muffler bearings are seized up.... I mean I'm just saying ;)

If you let it sit for like a minute with the key to the position before ignition does the clicking stop? I just saw you have APR and sometimes mine freaks out the ECU under abnormal conditions kind of like a lockout. But once I let it do its thing it stops clicking and then I can just turn to ignition and start the car. Just a thought but really as everyone said most likely a dead battery.
