Trying to decide on springs, and yes I have searched.
Side profile pics of avant wanted with Eibach, Neuspeed Sport and with H&R springs...
Also, let me know if they are with B5 caps or just the standard ones, and how the ride is compared to sport suspension.
Seems the h&r are stiffer and some people say they are progressive spring rate, while others say the eibach is progressive.. I'd prefer linear spring rate just for handling purposes (more predictable)... And I'm not interested in coils as I have a deal on bilstein sport shocks coming up through a friend.
Thanks in advance

Eibach, I liked them better than sport suspension. I ran the Koni FSDs so they were soft when needed and stiffened up when asked.

More pics! I am in the same situation and I have had a tough time making my decision. Please include your feedback on ride quality and handling vs the sport (red) suspension.
Great post.

That's not your car. The wheels aren't all Fresh Prince colored. [:D]

Any wheel rub without the b5 caps on springs? (i'm located in Toronto where the roads and whether conditions are far from ideal.)
Any wheel rub with the b5 caps and springs?
Anyone have an estimation on how much lower you get you when running either of these springs with b5 caps? (I've heard .5 inch).
Any help is much appreciated.

Haha. That's when I first bought it. I liked it, then I discovered neon paint!

Greedo, are those with the B5 perches?
Fishy, do you have a picture taken a little lower (just to see if the car is level front and back)?
Schmaud, do you have a better pic by chance, just so I can see wheel gap and how raked the front end looks. My friend has the H&R on his S4 sedan and the front end is raked like a 60's camaro at the dragstrip.
I have B5 perches on sport suspension, and would like to stay away from using perches again since the front end doesn't feel "tight" over potholes/manhole covers, etc. like it did without them. I changed the shockmounts and control arms and it got better, but still not the same.
Anyone with Neuspeed Sports on an Avant???

I know you said you had a deal on shocks but if you don't want rake I'm going to have to say go coils. Pretty much every spring is going to give some rake.

That's my Avant that Schmaud posted. There's probably a 1/4" more gap in the front than in the back. I'm looking into coilovers to bring the whole car down a little bit more. I'll see if I have any better pics.

No, but I'll tell you the rears tucked more and rubbed. It was about 3/8" lower ground to fender than the front w/o a load in it. I'm going to put them on my 08 Avant and I'm having a 15mm or 20mm spacer made. I want to be able to use the car so I'd rather have the ass end up higher.

I've got yellow Koni sports and was wondering what's the best spring matched to it? For the S4 Avant, it was an H&R spring, but most of the A4 people seem to go for Eibachs. What's the spring rate drop and feel between the different brands keeping the heavier rear end of the avant in mind? I don't want a raked look where the front end is higher than the rear, but I don't want coilovers either. As for the Koni Sports vs. FSD... would the sports be pretty firm all of the time as compared to the "progressive-ness" of the FSD's?

I was asking myself the same questions about the FSD and Yellow. Searching this forum threads show me that the FSD where not what i was looking for, and yellow seem's a better fit.
As for the springs, Eibach have a kit for Avant, that's why i choosed those and they have some great review and a nice stance.

This is my Avant on Bilsteins and H&R sports. Slightly higher in the front but not enough for me to worry about it right now.

Is it really higher though?
Looks like the bottom of the car is level, and the wheel well gap is more only (since the front wells are larger anyways) ... If that's the case, then H&R or Neuspeed will be what I choose I think..

There is a reverse rake on our cars. Front is higher than back.
However, if you get the B5 lowering caps and replace them with the B7 ones, it'll make the front slightly lower, fixing the awkward reverse rake.

The B5 caps only work with the OE sport shocks however, otherwise I would have gone that route.

They work with both types of OE shocks as well as some aftermarket - I just don't remember which ones.

I would love to find out that they work with the Bilsteins. I've heard conflicting reports but no confirmation either way.

I have the B5 caps on mine with the sport suspension. Since there isn't enough pre-load now, the front end doesn't feel tight. That's why I'm trying to find some springs that sit level.

They don't work with Koni FSDs.
