Hey guys! I've searched and searched and even read the many pages of the spacer thread but can't seem to find an answer for this. I have b7 s-line that has brand new 235/45/17" tires on it but the stock rims are all curb rashed (not me, came that way). I'm looking to get the R8 replicas in 17" or the rs4 reps and just swap the tires over. I've been told they won't clear the stock brakes and that I would need spacers. Does anyone have or know the correct spacers to get for what I'm trying to do? I have stock suspension And don't plan on lowering it. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure on this but I think all b7 rims are 8" wide, so I'd keep it that way.

depends on the offset of the wheel, I was running an 8.5 wide wheel with 35 offset and I had to run an 8mm spacer to clear the front breaks, ran a 10mm in the rear so it didn't look funny

I've talked to a couple different people and i'm 90% sure the stock wheel is 7.5" I know they are 5x112 and that's pretty much it. I asked the place selling the wheels and he told me I'd need spacers but couldn't tell me which ones and suggested to check the boards. I'm really hoping to come across someone with the same set up so I can see what they did... I just don't want to make a $500+ mistake when ordering rims lol.

save your moneys
but for a correct answer you would need to provide us with the wheels offset otherwise what everyone is telling you is not correct ....cept glissoar.....kind of
and you did not search.....

No North American OEM B7 17' wheels are 8" wide. Some reps will clear some wont. A decent set of 17x8 et35 reps should clear fine, but it does depend on the spoke design.

The offset of the wheels I'm looking at are 35mm. Why save my money? The wheels I have look like crap and I just wanna spruce it up a bit. Usually I'd go bigger but can't justify jus tossing brand new tires away. Thanks for your help!

I'd wait until I needed new tires and get a new package deal that would be cheaper (discounted tires) and you wouldn't have to commit to 17s.

I thought of that but I'm gonna keep these crap wheels and put winter rubber on them in October so that's why I just figured I'd go with new 17 to go with the current rubber.

The r8 style wheel is going to look silly at 17 inches.... Its a style where bigger is better im justsaying if ur committed to going 17, look for the special edition wheels or something with a y spoke/mesh look becuase it will look better
To answer ur question, tho a 5 mm spacer would be okay anything over that and its going to push out of the fender and look a bit odd with a bigger sidewall especially if ur tires are for an 8 inch width and going to 7.5

Thanks for all your info Shickadance - After doing a bit more digging I was able to find some 8" wide wheels from another place - a bit more expensive but not much. They have a few more options so I might not go R8. With an 8" wide wheel I should be all good then right?

yeah you'd be good, what is the offset of the newer wheels you are looking, typically you would want to stay within 45-35 et, 17 inch wheels will depend on the spoke size to see if you will clear or not, but adding a spacer will help the situation
remember, adding a spacer decreases your offset, so if you found a wheel with a 40et and added a 5 mm spacer you would be a 35, and your wheel would poke out 5mm more then it did before
you can always move the wheel farther away, getting it closer is a much more tricky/impossible task
you'll be fine tho
