Hey Guys,

Looking at the following Audi A4:
http://inventory.signatureautos.com/web/used/Audi-A4-2006-Austin-Texas/1134118/

I currently have a B6 USP, and looking at getting this B7. When does the Timing Belt's on the 2.0T need to be replaced? I know for 1.8T its usually the 70-80k range....so just trying to figure out if it's worth it to buy the car only to end up having a tbelt job to do.

Thoughts on the overall car as well?

Thanks.

audi says 100k or something like that but i would never wait that long
i would definitely do it no later than 85k but thats just me...

maybe that could be part of the deal buying the car though...go in there interested and ready to buy...
then tell them no deal if they wont change the belts...worth a shot

How much would that run?

depends on what you buy and where you do it

a good kit will cost $300
http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GH21129-1

then whatever shop charges for labor...which depends on the shop

Cost me 980 or so with parts and labor. So ask if they'll change it if not deduct 1000 of the list price and see if that works

Due to liability issue, the will will use his own parts, not the kit you brought
Dealer average charge is $1000 up to ...who knows

I would use it as a good haggle point, I did, Avant had 91K on it when I bought it, told them it needed to be done at 100K (i'm talking kms here, and I bought it at a hyundai dealer)

I think 100k kms (60k miles) is a bit early, i'm planning on doing mine at 120K even thought a canadian audi dealer told me they do most of them at 160-175K

rule of thumb is 7yr/75k whichever is 1st

Just buy the most complete kit from either europaparts or blausparts. I replaced mine at 85000miles.

I'm not sure about your area's rate, but it was total of around $750 for me.

Come down to san antonio tx, to DBC tunning shop, I just installed my springs/shocks, hfc and boost gauge, for a very reasonable price. They quoted me for the timing belt less than 800 bucks. Great guys there, very friendly too, and they did flawless job too.

Did they provide their own timing belt parts? Or did you just bring one of the kits you ordered online to them?

Thanks
