View Full Version : Suspension refresh?

Just wondering what other people have done, i'm almost at 100,000 kms (60K miles) and I think my car needs some refreshing in the suspension. The town I live in has aweful roads, 95% of the residents drive lifted trucks. I thought I had seen the worst Canada has to offer with my 3 year stay in Quebec City and frequent trips to Montreal but Fort McMurray takes the cake haha.

When I had my MK4 I did lower control arm bushings, sway bar end links and bushings, top strut mounts, tie-rod ends and rear torsion-beam mounts. It felt like new.

My front end is starting to feel clunky, I know it's probably not the shocks. I'm trying to get everything covered before I move on to wasting money on software and exhaust and other goodies.

Share what you've done so far.

I am at 125k miles and I have done nothing and every is solid. It could be the suspension. I don't even know if I have seen strut mounts for sale for these cars.

I know the sport suspension is stiffer, but is it known to not last as long?

I know something is off, it's clunking in the front on rough streets and when I take this one off-ramp in town with a straight line frost heave crack across it, the steering and suspension goes all twitchy. I'd take it in to an Audi dealer for a "Suspension Inspection" but the closest one if 4 hours away.

I can do pretty much any work myself, i'm just not the best at diagnosing suspension stuff.
