I was shopping around and comparing prices for drilled/slotted rotors and low-dust ceramic pads. I found:
ECS has great-looking rotors for and a Euro ceramic pad set (all four corners for $570 including shipping).

Brakeperformance.com has great-looking rotors too and "Premium" ceramic pads ($375 including shipping).

Anyone have experience with Brakeperformance.com? It seems that the products are very similar, but the price is about 50% more at ECS...
I don't abuse my brakes/track my car. If someone can verify the quality of either and/or offer helpful opinions, I would very much appreciate it! [:d]

When I did my brakes I got zimmerman drilled rotors for the front which were like 200 for the set and the pads were like 125 I left my rear rotors cus they were ok and put the same hawk hpc pads on there too those were like 75 so it all came out to a little over 400. I ordered from Europaparts.com

Plain front OEM or German made rotors and pads from Raceshopper.com always the cheapest and best performance

I was looking into Adams for my rear and he is super flexible on price. However, I was on a budget and eBay was able to beat out his price fairly significantly. I ended up going with stoptech powerslots ($165 shipped) and posiquiet ceramics ($43 shipped). Looks like the front rotors are about $270 shipped and a full-set of posiquiet ceramics are about $75 shipped. Looks like you could do this whole set-up for about ~$500 shipped. It's obviously more than brakeperformance.com but it gives you some more options.

No complaints at all so far on mine.It is only the rear so far so it's a little hard to feel any pros/cons.

Read up on slotted rotors before making a purchase, they won't be great for normal daily use.

Akebono pads are top notch for the price, ran them on my MK4 with Zimmerman discs.

I need to do front brakes on the A4 and was gonna go for zimmerman x-drilled w/ hawk or pagid pads, and also do the pads on the rear, rear disks are almost new.

From what I've read online, the slotted rotors seem to be more functional than the cross-drilled ones, but for normal street use it most likely won't matter. I just wanted to upgrade the look and quality of my rotors and have the least amount of dust with the pads.

Why don't some manufacturers like ECS and AdamsRotors sell cross drilled rear rotors? Is it due the fact that our rear rotors are thinner than the fronts and it's a safety purpose?

That's what i've heard anyway, non-vented (thin) rotors can crack easier from the heat cycling even though they only do 20-30% of the stopping.

Adams rotors hands down, my friend with an IS was amazed by my cars stopping power.

I'd stay away from rotors that are drilled after casting (adams). Those have the highest probability of failure over seed cast rotors that have the holes cast in. (Zimmermann, other OEMs)

This ^^

I just got the Zimmerman rotors/pads package that VAST had a couple weeks back for $325. Love them even though they are a bit more dusty than ceramic.

I threw some zimmermann drilled rotors up front around that same time. Just for the look that's all. Stoptech Street Perf pads from Rock Auto were $100 front and rear. Less dusty than stock, more linear bite than stock. It's also nice to have the firm pedal feel back. Worn out pad backing plates sure do become obvious when you put new pads on.

What rotor designs hold up best when it comes to pad wear - I'm sure flat rotors are the best but what about slotted vs. drilled rotors? How often are you guys with slotted rotors replacing pads?

Zimmerman drilled up front / OEM blanks in the rear, Hawk HPS all the way around... big fan. [up]

i would stick with a reputable name for the pads, hawk has several different types to choose from... for the rotors i dont think its as big of a deal

I run the ECS drilled and slotted up front with Hawk HPS. Very good set up. Braking is excellent shaves off speed sooo quickly you almost slow up too much.

Rotors matter just as much as the pads. You don't want to buy pad that will overheat the rotor and warp it or one that won't heat up enough and lead to glazed pads. Braking matters more than go though.

ECS rotors are great and bed in excellently. I would go with Adams if price dropped off and they weren't drilled after casting or final heating/cooling. I hear this could lead to cracking but then again. I wouldn't race on any rotors other than a full on BBK setup. But too each their own.

All that really matters in the end is how much you value quality vs price tag.

Also change fluid to something with a boiling wet point over 530F and SS lines upgrade too. World of difference!!!

I've had drilled/slotted Adams Rotors front and rear with Hawk HPS pads for about 30k daily driving miles. Very happy with price, service, and quality. No problems whatsoever.
