So you're driving around killing your gas mileage for no reason? Makes perfect sense.

Seems crazy to me just to add a roof rack without a reason to use it.

I have more to say, but I've got to go finish putting on my trunk's life preserver, it is gonna be like WHOO WHOO!

i have always loved racks (all racks) but been rolling with a roof box during the winter season. Im going to to get it painted the same color as my wheels here soon, then im prolly going to run it during summer to because im an asshole and can.

I was just saying. I had some on my car driving to Wyoming and it murdered my gas mileage.

hah yeah i can imagine, highway driving would be terrible, biggest bother is noise, havent gotten around to buying the fairing

ECS or OEM?

they are the OEM passat bars but not modified by ECS, it was pretty easy

i love the way it looks on a lowered car, still trying to work on my offsets and lower the front more

Car looks great. I've always been a fan of racks on cars. But I do have to agree with the general consensus; racks seem more like a function-driven addition to a car to me. I've never known someone to put them on just for looks. Certainly when it's a potential performance decreasing addition.

Looks good. The silver bars go well with the white.

I haven't noticed much of a difference on gas mileage with my rack on and I do 90miles a day on the highway. My minor leadfoot causes more damage to gas mileage than my roof rack. The fairing cuts down on the noise significantly.

well ive had bars for around two years. i commute to school on the highway every day. i would get around 20 miles to the gallon with them on but surprisingly no noise at all! But when i recently took them off i went to 35-40 on the highway doing around 75 cruise up and down hills. its ridiculous the amount of gas it wastes but no gunna lie they do look good lol.

btw sweet pics and digging the rims. my next rim choice soon.

thanks man, yeah i love these wheels, wish i would have been able to get 9.5s for the front too though instead of 8.5s but ill try to fix with some spacers

Racks are definitely useful...I love mine. But I take it off whenever I don't need it...it annihilates highway mpg

this might be a stupid question, but do the roof rack feet scratch the paint where they mount? I been wanting to get a roof rack for my bike and the ability to carry more junk, but i don't want it to leave marks when I remove the rack.

I've got clear bra under the feet on my rack, the rack was on for about a month at the end of last season and didn't scratch the paint but didn't want to take any chances this summer. I don't have a trip computer and calculating the mileage manually there isn't a significant loss in mileage from the rack the way I drive but as they say, your mileage may vary.

I'll play with my dirty car...I really should get some cleaner shots!

Roof racks are for one purpose and one purpose only. To carry gear, not look pretty. [>_<]
