Recently picked up a JHM short shift kit while up at AZ10. Got around to installing it last night.
I just have to say, I don't know why I didn't get this when I bought the car. I know this isn't DIY, but just my insight
It literally makes a world of a difference for shifting. It's so smooth, heavier, the throw's reach is just a flick of the wrist.
And I mean just look at the difference of the new kit vs. OEM.

Install wasn't too complicated either. Took me a little bit longer however because after getting everything installed.
I realized that the bolt for the linkage for the 6-speed has to be on the bottom, rather than sitting on the top for the 5-speed.
Also, my pivot assembly on my stock shifter was torn to shit! I mean it was gridded down pretty bad (just hit 93k with the car)
Overall though, I love solid pivot assembly. Makes for a much more "guided" shift. Big thumbs up to JHM for a great product

I got one at the AZ10 too! I have a short throw shifter already but I was sold by the solidity of this shifter. Hopefully I notice a difference between the JHM and KMD short throw shifter

Nice. I opt'd to go with the Neuspeed version. I agree, it makes a world of difference. I love the feel.

Did you just get the short shift kit by itself or did you also get the "solid" linkage upgrade advertised on the JHM website as well? Im looking to pull the trigger on this as well

I just got the Solid Throw upgrade that the offer. I didn't bother with the upgraded linkage.
It's already strong enough for me, coming from OEM.

Yes I did, but make sure you also watch the extra video about the 6speed. The videos were very helpful.

Been drooling over this (and several other JHM goodies) in recent weeks. Thinking about pulling the trigger, but first; now that this kit has been out for a few years how is it holding up?
Everyone still happy with theirs?
Is it worth almost $300?
I'm about to tick over 100k miles so I've been doing things to help freshen up the car to give it a tighter more solid feel so I'm thinking this might be a great way to get that feeling every time I shift a gear. Thoughts?

Feels the same as it did when I installed it 4ish years ago
+1 love mine. Bought the kit with the linkage and bushing upgrade, still have to get around to installing that.

A level app on an iphone is very handy for aligning the shifter. 3 degrees to the right, and 7 degrees back IIRC.

I did 3 back and 6 right and it fixed my issues with shifting into 2nd gear at high rpm.

Maybe I got my back and right swapped then. It's early and I've only had one cup of coffee.

Deffinitly a must have, I'm still trying to figure out some adjustment issues though with mine. Reverse is sort of a pain to get into sometimes. But other then that it's amazing

A couple degrees difference from the ideal placement is enough to cause a loss of reverse and a delayed shift into second. Just try yours out before buttoning it all back up. Download a surface level app for your phone and rest it on the shift lever to get the measurement.

Sounds like the reviews on this piece are still overwhelmingly positive. Good deal.
Now, how about the weighted shift nob???

Thought about buying the weighted knob, but I liked the look of the stock knob better.

So glad I got my Trio and link. Fixed my shift knob with a slight hulk smash and now no more rattles or lift up, plus the lovely blower whine is back.
Now that the knobs fixed, I'm not distracted and its just an absolute joy.

do you have upgraded trans / diff mounts? yours might be shot

Love mine and also did the linkage bushing upgrade, but no the linkage itself. Quality and feels great, only gripe I could possible have (which is pretty irrelevant) is that the throw is so short it looks like its in neutral in gear haha. I can adjust it a little but I kind of like it a little forward, and will still look like that I imagine. Also did the 034 trans mount, all very solid feeling.

Over the past month I've noticed the car shakes badly under heavy braking at high speeds. I'll have to check out my motor mounts because it was never this bad in the past. Rotors and pads are relatively new front and back so I don't think that's the reason.

You can check your engine mounts by pushing and pulling the engine back and forth. If it moves more then about a quarter inch then they are shot. What shakes? the whole car or just the steering?

Thanks fraggy I'll try that. The whole car shakes badly when I brake hard at 80mph. It goes away once I'm under 40 mph or so. If I hit the brakes just right and vary the pressure then I can get it to go away.
They are the OEM mounts and I drive her hard so I wouldn't be surprised if my mounts were shot.
