[:(] Got back from grocery shopping and see that my driver side mirror is snapped. It is now dangling by a wire but the adjustment motor is still functional. It fits back in place nicely and I was wondering whether or not to just epoxy it back on. If I do decide to go this route, what kind of epoxy should I use (will marine epoxy work?) The other option is to get it replaced professionally which would probably cost around $500 or more and I would be much happier with spending that money elsewhere. Just wanted to see your opinion on how plausible the epoxy would be. Thanks in advance.

how much is your insurance deductible?
it didnt just fall off on its own so my guess is that someone hit it?

There are no marks or scratches to be found so I'm guessing someone broke it with their hands or jumped on it. My deductible is pretty high so I don't want to get insurance involved and risk higher rates in the long run =[

That really sucks if someone did that on purpose. No cameras or anything at the grocery store pointed at the parking lot? I know its a long shot but maybe worth looking into. I would be much more pissed than you seem to be, good luck!

i have had good luck with marine epoxy, i would use some sort of plastic bonder, the stuff usually comes in a dual syringe type applicator and it pushes out a resin and an activator type liquid.....i mix with a q-tip but a popsicle stick would be better.
apply a liberal amount and put the mirror back on, then use masking tape to hold it in position while it sets.....let it be for like 12-16 hours if it is holding strong then good, let it cure for a full 48 hours (it may seem like it done, but the epoxy really does not 100% settle until 48 hours) then with some medium sand paper, sand the excess epoxy, then with a fine sand paper, wet sand it until smooth
from what i recall (but since you didn;t put up a pic) the piece that broke is the black plastic piece right?, so you dont have to worry about the sand paper messing up the paint job or anything just be careful about it

so I'm not the original poster of this thread but have run into the EXACT same problem as him. The only difference is this happened to me while at a club. I came back and my outside side mirror was knocked off, left dangling by a wire. Some drunk idiot probably decided to be a hater and felt like breaking something.
Anyways, I attached a pic...

I read about the expoxy glue option and wasn't so fond of it. I'd like to get the part that's broken off and have it replaced. When I went to the dealer, they said it would cost $350 plus $150 for labor. Any ideas on where I can get this part or what it's called? And DIY help on replacing this??

I've replaced my window regulator and I believe the plastic triangle piece on the inside of the car simply snaps off from what I recall, which then gives you access to the bolts that hold the mirror housings on.
Check the window regulator DIY for pictures just skip to the part that shows the removal of that plastic mirror piece (on the inside). You wont have to remove the door panel and all that other junk ( if i recall correctly)... but browse the window reg DIY and you'll see it.
