I have been using the Axxis Ceramic pads on this car for the last several years but the pads are now 80% worn in the front.
The pads offered good braking performance but the dust from them was a horrible pain in the butt to get off the bare aluminum of my HRE wheels. Once the dust got even slightly wet it would pretty well fuse itself to the aluminum requiring removal with a scotch bright pad; needless to say that was not good for keeping the wheels shine. Well due to that fact I had the wheels refinished and clear coated.
The pads also did not last that long and seemed to be very hard on the rotors.
What I am after is some opinions on good pads that are geared to more spirited driving (AKA- driving it like you stole it) The car does not really see track use but I like good brake performance as I live in an area where the roads are naturally very twisty and I drive like a ding dong [;)].......
I would also like to find a better set of rotors for the car that are hopefully slotted.
So to summarize what I want for my 2001 C5 A6 4.2L V8
A good set of performance pads that hopefully make less dust then the Axxis ceramic pads I am using now... I want performance first though, am I asking for too much!!!!!!
A good set of Slotted rotors
