View Full Version : Rev Hang Possible Carbon build up?

Lets say I shift from 2nd into 3rd at like 3,300 RPM when I push the clutch in it jumps to about 3,500 and sits there for a second then drops. This just started the other day and I have no idea what would cause this. any help would be awesome.

PCV is a common issue. How is the engine at idle? When my PCV was busted, the RMPs would hang in between shifts and at idle it was pretty rough. I've also read a bad clutch switch can cause the same symptoms, minus the rough idle.

Yeah i Dont have a rough idle and a couple months ago I pulled a code for throttle position sensor, but it went away over night.

Check clutch switch - if you have VCDS, a scan should show a switch problem. That was my symptom and Audi replaced the switch under warranty. Also if cruise doesn't work, that's a pretty good indicator of the clutch switch problem.

It's almost definitely this clutch switch. ^ I had this same problem last summer and it was very annoying. Makes it sound like you can't drive. [:/]
I also noticed when this went that my cruise control didn't work. Replace the switch and all should be well.

yeah if your rpms do that and the cruise control doesnt work its your clutch switch!
