Hey guys ** HUGE fan of AZ.. I don't post to much because I know how to SEARCH [:d]
I was coming off the parkway this afternoon and heard a crazy screaming-squealing coming from my engine while coming on the off ramp. At first I thought it might have been my brake pads, because that warning light was on. But when I came to a dead stop it kept making this loud squealing almost weezing noise. It was present at RPM idle, but would go away when I gave it gas.. As soon as the RPM's dropped back down to near idle the sound started again. Did not seem to affect the driveability because I moved about another 200 feet to get to a good spot .. Nasty sound guys.. So I pulled over, popped the hood and wanted to see if it was the front serpentine belt-- or anything I could easily recognize.. The sound was definitely coming from behind possibly under the engine. While idling the RPM's were kind of dying out and the car was giving me that feeling like it was about to die out-- So I felt I did the right thing.. I shut her down, called a tow truck and sent her to the Audi stealership. [headbang]
Any ideas guys??

I really have no idea. MAYBE... Did it sound like a leak in power steering?

Sounds like you blew your breather valve aka pcv valve, is your check engine light on? Sounds just like what happened when i blew mine, pretty inexpensive to fix, covered under warranty if your car is still under warranty

I didn't notice the check engine light.. I hope its just the PCV ** I'll update you guys tomorrow once the dealership gives me a call. I'm surprised a busted PCV would do that ** I thought from reading other posts its just a noticeable loss in power- not a sound like that. Lets hope! Thanks guys.

Hi, this is happening to my car right now, started 2 days ago and definitely is a crazy screaming-squealing coming from the driver side of the engine, I am taking the car to the dealer today (I am still under warranty, 2008 with 38k). I was afraid that was something serious but reading this, I am confident is minimum. Also I noticed that for the last 2 days, in the mornings, when I start the car, the engine vibrates a lot for a few seconds and after that all is ok. No check engine light on.

I believe turbo is passenger side... not the drivers.. you should check again

What I was saying is that the sound is caming from the drivers side, yes you are correct, the turbo is in the passenger side but I don't think is related to the turbo. She is at the dealer righ now, they mentioned that this is a common issue, gave me a loaned A4 2011 :-) and waiting for the results. Will post the outcome and what they did later. I am checking everything in the car before runs out of warranty, 10k more miles

Hi, I have my car back today, the dealer replace a "faulty pressure regulating valve" part # 06F129101P. Sound is gone and idle is good now. They mentioned that this is a common problem and is happening around 40k miles, next time I will be out of warranty :-(
Not sure if this valve was the pcv or something in the turbo but was fixed and I am happy without that noise.
