Well, my trunk only opens manually by walking to the back and turning the key. LOL... I hate it!! The trunk release on the door does not work, and neither does the button on the key fob. I hear the click from the inside when i press either the key fob, or the door release button, but it just doesn't open. =( I checked the glove-box for a valet mode button which has been the solution in so many threads, but i can't find a button in mine (guess i don't have a valet mode option?)

Any suggestions, has anyone else encountered this? Thanks in advance!

Open the trunk and pull the emergency handle a few times, see if that helps, if not.
In what position do you leave the lock cylinder after taking out your key? (On the trunk obviously)

There is a trick that once you open the trunk and you leave the cylinder in a certain position, the key-fob and door button wont work. I think it's either vertical or horizontal. Im not sure.

I had that happen to me after I did some work back there

I did try the emergency handle a couple times (but it was for fun, not for troubleshooting haha)
I tried playing with the position of the key hole as well... when i left it horizontal it showed as if the trunk was open on the instrument panel while i was driving. when i turn the key to the right, it feels like its empty/broken... there is no resistance...

Thanks!!

Does the lock mechanism on the trunk not "click" when you push the button on the fob or pull the button on the door panel? If not, it might be a relay or a fuse. I'd start there.

I hear a clicking when i push the button and also when i depress the key fob button... Sounds to be coming from inside the cabin though... right by the door jam. I've checked the fuse (on the side of the drivers dash) Fuse looks good... Thanks for trying to help out... =)

Well, My dealer just called to follow up with my purchase (I got the car last Thursday) and i told him about the issue. They are gonna take care of it free of charge! Awesome, that's service!

Hopefully we still get this figured out for others sake...

(The dealer said he ordered the trunk latch) He thinks that's the culprit... We shall see...

It was the trunk latch... latch was replaced and trunk works amazingly now, It doesn't even matter if I use the key fob or the door switch!! I am impressed... the trunk opens so much smoother than it did in my 1976 Nissan... Audi's are so much better than everything else.

Problem solved for those having the issue! =D

I had a similar problem that the trunk would not latch when its cold.
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/329499-DIY-Faulty-Trunk-Latch

Instead of buying a new latch.. I carefully open the plastic housing (ended up breaking a one of the plastic clip)... applied some teflon lube on the gears.. and put everything back together.. took like an 1.5 hours to do it. The hardest/longest part was disassembling the plastic housing on the latch.
