So I thought my body shop had only put on my bumper wrong causing the hideous bumper gap. I finally got home for summer and decided to try out Fly's bumper gap fix diy, but to my horror I find this shit.

Also where the 1/4 turn screws are supposed to be they just stuck in normal 3/8 bolts that are impossible to get out and are by far the hardest part of taking off the bumper now. What should I demand of them when I go there tomorrow first thing in the morning? Can these be replaced without replacing the crash bar? I'd love to have my car at the Sonoma Audi meet this Saturday, but it looks like this isn't gonna happen.

P.S. I got rear ended a month ago and they're paying for it, but should I have this same shop do it or should I never trust them again? It's so funny how shops think "they'll never take it off again, they'll never know **** it."

I'd find a different body shop for the new work.

Thanks Phil,
Also the "pins" that are holding it in seem damaged as well, is there a part number for these also? There's no threads in there so I'm confused on how to get them out haha.

The entire stub assembly pn is 8E0 807 381 C (same part number left or right). About $18 a piece at ECS so I would call the dealer to have them on time
The rivets (what you call pins) pn N 910 939 01 (2 piece per stud)

Thanks phil! It's just so disheartening to discover this kind of stuff. I'll make sure they are the ones to pay for this, and if they're hesitant I might just use giving them new work as incentive. Mhmmmmmm insurance $$$$

idk man if they screwed up something like lining up the bumper, and then forced it in there to fit, and then did not care about the obvious bumper gap (and when you do it wrong the gap is pretty damn obvious) i dont think i would trust that body shop to handle much of anything because its a sheer lack of attention to detail that they either dont care about or is just plain not important to them.....either way i would not want to give my own or my insurances money to a shop like that

just my .02 there has to be a better bodyshop ya kno?

About the Phil's link, I was trying to do it on my bumper while it was off.
However, the gap does not go into the bumper. This picture.

I don't know why my screw's gap is smaller, but it does not fit in any ways...

You can make the gap bigger by unscrewing it.

I am pretty sure I tried that method, but the whole screw itself will not move.

The screw is probably corroded: spray some W40 but you definitively should be able to increase the gap a be able to slide the bumper
