drove my car last night, parked it fine no problems. today i reverse out, my two left wheels are wobbling off my car.. took it in to pepboys because i'm at school and there's nowhere else to go and they said two wheel bearings blew... my question is i drove last night fine no problems, i reverse out and baam?... he said they mightve cooled over night and cracked and i was missing a wheel nut.. could this have anything to do with having 255 size tires ? i have about 42,000 miles 2007 a4, never replaced them before...

Someone might be trying to mess with you.

It's oddly strange that both wheels would go lose on one side. The odds of BOTH wheels doing it is highley unlikely.
Either someone came during the night and tried to remove them and got spooked or someone might be messing with you.

Wheels don't just go loose. They progressivly start to wobble. If they were that bad when you pulled out, someone did something
over night.

just some personal exprience.

I had a tire change and the guys didn't tighten the lugs enough, it took 15 miles of driving before i started to get a vibration and the wheel
started to wobble. One lug nut did happen to fly off, but it happen when driving.

Doesn't heat expanded things? If it was because it cooled off, wouldn't it of shrinked and gotten tighter?

haha i grew up in the DC metro area... i was taught to solve a flat tire by borrowing a matching wheel from someone else

you guys think so? the missing wheel nut- i could not find it around the complex that i live in and im not sure if i've been missing it or not... if they were trying to steal is, why would the wheel bearings be both broken?

I have no idea what circumstances led to this, attempted theft or otherwise, but it seems likely to me that the lugs were not tightened correctly while the car was being driven and you trashed the wheel bearings. This happened to me before after I popped two wheel studs at an autocross. Trashed my wheel bearing as well.

someone tried to steal your shit, got spooked, left you drove the car unknowlingly loose = broken wheel bearings

not your fault as you would have never thought to check your wheels before driving, but what likely caused the failure would be the loose nuts + driving, caused by someone who tried to jack yo shit

Wow, that's rough! Do you park on the street? It seems to make sense the left side would be lose as this side is the street-side.

Either way, hopefully it doesn't happen again!

i park in a sheltered area in front of the complex... to my right is cement wall that i park real close on to make room on the other side, but my left side is exposed , the side with the two broken bearings... all fixed now but i really think it was this kid in my complex trying to mess with my shit.. theres a bit of tension between us so i'm skeptical and the story points towards him (i wont go into the tiny details)

heres a pic of the wheels...ST's in the mail, i know, it needs a drop
