Has anyone replaced their coin tray with the OEM+ cup holder?
I'm kinda interested because I never use that thing.

This one looks to be a slightly better design but still, i dont think anything will stay in without anything flying out.

only SMALL cups should fit in there

Well that's what I'm thinking. Using it to hold water bottles, soda cans, or small paper/plastic cups.
I just hate not being able to use my 2nd cup holder with my arm rest down.

If its the one where our card tray is than yeah that thing is a POS. I have to hold my friends drink the whole time just so it doesn't flip out

My bro in his b6 has one inside his armrest and the one the slides out (slightly different design than this) but needless to say I found myself catching drinks often lol

That's the ONE thing American car manufacturers have the edge in...drink holders!

Maybe, but I must say, I like the b7 cup holders in the center console. I haven't had major problems with them unless my actual cup sucks lol. The holder itself does a much better job in tight corners than others

I did for a little bit, then I went back... Only because I got a cheap Chinese cup holders, and you could see the red light under the tray. I did this not to hold drinks, because my expensive to replace navi is right below, but to hold my cell phone. So if this is your reason, then I think it is a good idea, but get the oem tray.

Works fine for me... just your oversized US portions [;)]

Audi must think so as they fit the cup holder to the UK/European cars rather than the coin holder... and they think you're too fat for the RS4 buckets too!

we prefer 'big-boned'

And what are we supposed to do with McDonald's offering any size soft drink for only $1. Damn that large value at reasonable prices - they get us again!

Those honestly suck! I had one in the B5 and they are very unstable, don't fit much, condensation from cold drinks drips on the radio, overall a bad design.

I'd get it and use it to hold those small can style air fresheners

Everybody seems to hate these cup holders but I did this replacement. I put my keys and wallet in the standard cup holders when I drive so I need a place for my coffee in the morning. I found one that was on e-bay for about 30 bucks (shipped from Hong Kong but quality was fine). Chrome stripe and all. Pretty good fitment. Yes it only really fits soda cans and smaller cups but as long as you don't over load it the thing works fine.

I wrote a DIY a while back but it never made it into the DIY section since I did not include pictures. If you search my posts I am sure you will find it.

I would never risk having liquid getting the chance to drip onto my rns-e/electronics (or whatever headunit you have). IMO just use the ones u got, if u want this just for shits and giggles that fine, but i wouldn't EVER use it...

Ahahaha, my friend doesn't even let me USE the cup holders in his stang because its a PITA to shift with drinks in the cup holders

In theory this looks like a good mod, but I could only imagine myself spilling a drink all over my headunit/ HVAC controls/ shift knob - and that would be a nightmare.
