Okay so I need new tires I've searched and didn't find anything. I have the stock 17inch split 5's and I want to fit 255/40R17 instead of the stock 235/45R17. I know that's its a different size but my brother put 255/40R17 on his stock acura rsx type-s wheels and the car has much much more grip and handles much better.



So main question is can I fit a 255 on the stock 17's?

I think most will tell you that's overkill for our cars and not needed let alone look really bad, your tire will not only be wider but taller, a stock sized good summer tire will make a big impact on how the car handles brakes and rides.

255 represents the width of the tire, so im wondering if your brother has a wider 17 inch wheel then you.....if he does not....then the tire will fit no problem the rim width spec for the 255 tire is 8.5-10.....so find out if your stock 17's are 8.5 or wider.....if not....then no

stockers are 7.5 afaik so 255 won't fit.

His stockers are 17x7 et45. Oh well I guess ill just get a 245/40R17 instead its cheaper and will fit. Thanks for the help fellow members.
