Do I need an 8mm 12-point (serrated, "triple-square") bit to get my HPFP out? I'm planning on doing this tomorrow but I had a look in Lowe's and they don't sell them and from their websites neither does anywhere locally.. Will a standard 6-point torx fit?
Cheers
edit: for the "banjo"

no..pretty sure it wont fit
there is no autozone/advance auto/harbor freight places around you?
because one of them should have them...
you could also maybe try posting in the regional section to see if anyone in your area might be nice enough to lend you one if they got it

Yes you for sure need a 8mm 12-point "INTERNAL WRENCH"
Go to Autozone to buy a kit. It was 12.99.
Look in the section with packages made by OEM "Tools for Professionals"
I know for sure that they have it because I just bought my kit a couple days ago to do my Cam Follower.

Yes. I went to Autozone, Sears, Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, Advanced Auto, O'Riley, Pep Boys, etc and none had the triple square socket. Finally ordered my off Amazon.

That's shocking that none of the above had them. I got mine from Sears, Craftsman brand of course.

Haha I got these in Autozone but my HPFP didn't have a banjo bolt (I have an 08). Thanks for the pics :)

Not to revive a dead thread, but I just took out mine tonight. Didn't have the 12pt bit set up, so instead of using that huge extension and working in from the bottom, I used an L-shaped 6mm hex (allen wrench) and worked it from the top between some hoses/lines. Easy. Mine's an 06 btw.

Ya once you just go for it pulling it off is pretty straight forward. How'd your follower look?

You used an allen wrench without stripping the banjo bolt at all? [:/]
It will strip but only slightly. I've removed mine 3 times now without a cheesehead and it is now striped so I got anew one I would def recommend getting a set of m bits but if your in a squeeze it will work with Allen's or torx
