I have been searching all morning and cannot really find my answers without still feeling a bit uneasy because of the different responses i read.

Looking to switch up my steering wheel with either a Euro RS4, a TT-S wheel. Really anything that will match my perforated leather shift knob ( RS4 Knob ).

I also want to keep the steering wheel controls working, which is one of my questions, i read someone sold their steering wheel and air bag because it would not keep the steering wheel controls on their A4 but another member said all you have to do is go to the dealer and they could program it for you so i assume VAG COM is involved.

Also, i assume different wheels have different steering wheels, such as the euro rs4 wheel has a different air bag from the tt-s wheel.

Someone with the knowledge please help, if you have nothing good to say other then search then please dont read further..

the flat bottom mfsw from a rs4 ttrs s3 etc will be a direct fit to the b7
and wont need recoceing fot the controls to work
the rs4 with the S button will fit the same but wont control the stereo

the bags from rs4 s3 ttrs are all the same

Older model wheels used a round shaped airbag; newer ones have that trapezoidal look.

Euro RS4 Pro:
Cheaper airbag (round A8 airbag with A4 harness, $200)
Rarer than TT/TTs/TTRS/RS6/S3 wheel

Euro RS4 Con:
Expensive, average $800 without airbag
Lose of multifunction controls
Aluminum sliver area is actually plastic

TT/TTs Pro:
Relatively cheaper ($400-$600)
Retain multifunction controls

TT/TTs Con:
Airbag is expensive ($500-$$600)
Harness is different (need to modify the pins or modify A4 harness)

Where have people been buying the round airbags, either for the A8/S8 or the ones needed for the TT/TT-S? Does anyone have the part number for the TT-S airbag?

Actually, just searching eBay and Google, looks like the TT airbag part number is 8J0 880 201 J 6PS and runs about $640 at GenuineAudiParts.com and about $600 on eBay...yikes!

The A8/S8 airbag part number appears to be 4E0880201BH6PS, which is $500 on GenuineAudiParts.com but there are some (used, but not deployed) Audi A8 airbags on eBay right now for <$100 shipped.

Anyone know hard is it to re-pin the TT harness for an A4?
