has anyone done this? I have no plans for going BT but this sounds like a good deal for the price to add that much power for $1900 when people are buying AWE exhaust for almost that price. To me it seems like it makes sense if I don't want to go crazy.

I wonder why, all they do is replace the internals of the turbo. They even have the internals for sale and can swap them yourself. I would def like to know what happened with that.

Maybe the housing is not strong enough for the amount of air compressed in it?
But it is an interesting solution to keep cost low.

def, but I am sure there are good stories with this. And I don't plan on running the thing so hard for it to break in half.

Frakenturbo is coming out with a turbo kit for the a4 2.0t but it will be a while till it's out

You haven't read the description... This turbo isn't even for sale anymore. Its been superseded by a gt28 kit.

interesting...ive heard good things about the frankenturbos on the B5.

First of all, Geoffafa's turbo did not "break in half". There was a crack in near the bulge of the exhaust housing casting. He said it didn't even make that much difference. Second... Really? you have way more than 20psi in your tires... they aren't exploding...

Come on Sprode, don't you know turbos break in half all the time. Damn, I thought you were one of the smart guys on here... Time to learn a thing or two man!

Unfortunately thats what they all say in the beginning, then when they start to drive it more and more they get the idea that "hmm ill just pust it a little harder it will be ok" them BAM your stuck on the side of the road saying fuck why did I buy this F'in kit!
