View Full Version : Motor Mount Sensor?

I searched around and didn't find anything that directly answered my question.
I purchased the 034 Street Density Motor mounts. I was looking at my driver's side mount and noticed that there is clearly a connector on the side of the mount. When I inquired with 034 Motorsports directly, they were not aware that the 2.0T came with sensors. (Only the S4 apparently?) I was told by my local mechanic that "some" of the B7 2.0T's had them.
What's the deal? Do they have them or not? Mine clearly looks like it has them but I could be smoking crack. I am not having problems (yet) with my OE ones, so if replacing them is going to throw codes then I am not going to bother installing the 034 ones (unless someone here has a compelling reason to do so).
Any help is greatly appreciated.

a connector or a ground?

It's a connector. I didn't put a multimeter on it, so I don't know if it's a ground or not.

I just looked and I have teh same on the drives side, it looks like a plug for a wireharness, but I'm not sure if there is only a ground wire or several wires in the harness.

It's a knock sensor. If not connected, you will get a fault light
You can return to ECS the mount because they won't fit your car

Thanks, Phil. Do you know which A4's came with this and which didn't? I bought the mounts from 034 and they seem to have no idea about this.

I just looked at pictures of a knock sensor and this is not what the connector is.

Call it the way you want, the result will be the same. The ECU does monitor if there is excessive knocking inside the mount

knock sensor on a motor mount??? ......can you please clarify why there is knock sensor on the mount, seems strange. It "would" be cool if there was a sensor on the mount that told us when the mount was bad. Speaking of mounts, I need to look at mine tonight bc my driverside mount was leaking a lil red stuff & I know what that means!
TIA Phil

Do you have the same parts page for the 4 cylinder? That's a picture of a v6.

Same for the 4 cylinder: Connector not shown on the picture but look at the description. The left engine mount on my 2005.5 Q have a connector on each and because you need to disconnect the plug for the oil change, I forgot to reconnect it once and got a warning light

It means that you mount is shot and I suggest replacing both (I have to do the same on mine)
Since there is so many variant, I suggest you call the Dealer and obtain the correct PN for your car

So the million dollar question is, do the same cancelers that 034 sells work on the A4 that work on the S4. I would imagine so. Therefore these mounts WOULD work on my car.

Did you ask 034?

Sorry
Do you have a link to the Cancelers? A4 & S4 mounts have different part numbers

It's an optional add-on to this product:

I was looking to do the exact same thing when I came across this thread. So do we need 2 of those resistors or is it just needed on the drivers side?
TIA
