I have a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T with a custom Magnaflow 16601 Exhaust and APR Test Pipe (had these on for about a year). For a while now i've noticed when I put my windows down and drive there is a rattle coming somewhere from the bottom of my car whem im around 4-6000 rpm before shifting. It's really noticable when im driving througy my parking deck.

I've taken a look under the car and hit around the exhaust and it doesnt sound like anything is loose there, but possibly it's coming from the test pipe?

What does this sound like to you guys? It sounds really raspy, and really takes away from the vehicles sound.

I will also point this out that, I have the APR stage 2 ECU upgrade as well, and whenever I put racefuel (100oct) and switch to the 100oct mode it rattles a lot louder and more frequently (I usually run on the 93 Octane mode).

Does your set up have a flex pipe? Could be loose/rattling.

Let me guess, it sounds like it's coming from near the gear shift? It is just the torque from the engine pushing the exhaust against something under the car. It just needs a little adjustment. To prove it, try driving with the air conditioning, and it will probably get a little louder/worse because of the extra draw on the engine. Nothing is broken, it happens from time to time on every car I have had with exhaust. You might also want to check your motor mounts. if they are bad, it well cause extra engine movement under torque and make this issue worse.

My exhaust rattled bad when the element in my cats broke and was vibrating around in the casing. But yours is new and if you took the cats out for the custom exhaust then not sure.

***Update

I tested with A/C on and it still does it. It also rattles when I turn the car off, like from about 1500 rpms to 0. Its like when the most pressure is passing through the exhaust it rattles. I have a hard time believing it's the exhaust though...

I'm pretty sure it's just torque pressing the exhaust against the car you hear. The whole engine twists under torque. Imagine the engine is on an axis that runs from the front bumper to the rear. The engine twisty's around this axis slightly, causing the exhaust to move slightly back and forth from driver side to passenger side. It's usually the downpipe passing on the under side of the car.
