Troubleshoot Brake Pressure

Hey guys I just replaced my front pads and doing so I opened the brake fluid cap to compress the pistons. After everything was replaced and bolted back up I closed the cap and began pumping the brakes. Should the pressure be back to what it was before the pad change or should it be a little softer than before?

Initially it might feel softer until you've used the brakes on the road once or twice. Then it should feel about the same as before.
