SoCal Audizine Cruise 3/27 !

So here we go everyone! Made sure to get enough canyons and enough cruising to satisfy those with a heavy right foot and those with the windows down too often [:D]

Date: March 27th 2011
Time: 9:15am Meetup / 10:00am Departure
Place: El Camino Real Shopping Center. 23340 Avenue San Luis, Woodland Hills, CA‎

Route: As posted above.

We will start from the shopping center, then:
Mullholland Highway > Encinal Canyon > PCH > Neptunes Net > Mugu Photo spot > PCH > Las Virgenes (Malibu) Cyn > Mullholland Highway > Shopping Center.

I am personally familiar with all these roads and know that these are safe but caution should still be used.

There will be a couple stops along the way just to see how everyone is doing. Rolling shots will be taken on PCH (for obvious reasons [rolleyes]) for those who have washed their pretty cars [:p]

Rain has always been a hit and miss for us. We have faired out pretty well so far. Obviously if there is rain the cruise will be postponed.
The cruise really ends at Point Mugu, people tend to head home after that.
101 can be re-routed to just Mullholland. I leave the freeway in the beginning to allow people to catch up if late, or get gas if they forget. Which has happened...
PCH? Why not? Again, you are more than welcome to separate at any time including the drive back. Many people don't have the beach so close so why not enjoy it while you can.
Encinal has been completely repaved.

I am guessing it is around 60+ or so miles round trip... I always fill up before the cruises. For one there is not a lot of Gas stations on the route and secondly you do not want to be buying gas out in Malibu. They have some STEEP prices.

Correct me if I am wrong, here is what I came up with on Google, as far as distances go:

Leg 1: El Camino Real Shopping Center TO Neptunes Net = approx 28 miles
Leg 2: Neptune's Net TO Point Mugu = approx 12 miles
Leg 3.1: Point Mugu TO Las Virgines = approx 28 miles
Leg 3.2: Las Virgines (Malibu Canyon) TO El Camino Real Shopping Center = approx 16 miles

So we're pushing about 84mi then. Heh. Atleast we won't be driving Stunt or Mulholland too far to where I'd be tempted to push the car. My front treads are already hurt enough at 12k miles and gas is.. well you all know.

I say that without a doubt, there will be some gravel/dirt/rocks on the road. It's nearly always there...even at the best of times. Drive safe, give more room between you and the guy in front.

As of right now (11:45am 3-24)

There is no rain on Saturday and only 10% chance on Sunday so the roads should be mostly dry.

However there are a few streams running across the road up to a week after rain, those spots can be tricky because they are usually in a blind corner, so we have to be super careful or we’ll have to explain why there is a half a million dolor Audi pile up on the side of a mountain…lol

Just got back from driving the "new" desired route:

All the roads have been freshly repaved. HUGE amount of CHP on PCH and possibly early parts of Mullholland. Zero debris in the road, and if my low wagon can avoid some pebbles so can you [;)]

Tried to take drive by shots but man! It was hard to determine what speed u guys were going but it was fast!! Only got a few good pics. I'll post later.

Stoped at the off ramp light at a red light staring off and wham... Lady said her dog was throwing up.

Got the bumper and tweaked my trunk a little. It sucked cause I didnt even see it coming.

Go figure that we roll through traffic at high speeds with no problems at all and then you're sitting at a red light and you get rear-ended. Dog was throwing up, I wonder how the insurance people will take that one...

After I left when you all parked on PCH to go to Neptune's- I headed back- and backtracked on same route back to 101 (to go to LA) and we saw a silver A4 with bike roof racks- /was it one of you guys?
I couldve just stayed on PCH to the 10 freeway, but I was hoping for heavy downpours through the canyons to wash off the mud lol- but no luck---so i ended up washing my car when I got home. Gotta go to Keyes Audi tomm (monday 9am) , I have small droplets/leak in my garage floor that appeared 4 days ago- im thinking they did not tighten up the DSG tranny bolt properly...

The signature is the best place to out it for sure. Plus no one EVER gets my name right unless I S P E L L it out for them.

I used to ride around this side of the mountains, when I had a GSXR-600. I usually start from PCH and Topanga Canyon (since I come from Santa Monica), and take Topanga all the way up to where Mulholland Hwy starts (almost close to the 101). Then take Mulholland Hwy all the way back down to PCH at Leo Cabrillo Beach where you can relax. On the way back home I just take the easy ride down PCH back to Santa Monica. Havent done so yet with my Avant, havent found the time in doing so.
