Getting a true sponsorship is tough. No company out there will sponsor you unless you can prove yourself first. That means if you are more of a "show" person, than a "go" person, you will need to present them with what major carshows you attended, and how many top places you won (3rd place and above). Most companies aren't just gonna give you free stuff. They need to know that you can offer them something in return. These companies want promotion, whether it be magazine features or ads, or lots of people seeing and/or talking about their parts in person.

If you are a "go" person, then you need to build a fast car and win races and such...a lot.

For most major companies, you will want to go with a contingency sponsorship. This means they give you a sweet deal on their parts. It will still cost you money, but hey, its cheaper right?

Aside from the major companies, start with local shops. For example, my local car stereo place gives me everything I would ever want at cost, and 50% off on installation. They will even fo out of thier way to get me products that they have no intention of ever selling...it's a great deal.

Regarding the link you posted, I'd be careful and research it a bit first. It might be a valuable resource, but if you take things slow, you can probably do better yourself.
