So I finally got around to doing the plaid interior I've been wanting to do. Took me forever to find good material and I finally settled on tartan wool they use for kilts and such. Got it from Scotweb.co.uk I just warn you it took nearly a month to get it. Still would like to do the seats, but I'll wait until I have the money to fix the heating element while it's apart. Feels good to add a little more life to a car with 263,xxx miles. On to the pics:

Even did the back doors and arm rest!

I made a CF radio surround to match my boost gauge as well

It looks unique.

Your interior reminds me of Christmas wrapper.

Seats and Door Cards look good.

Shift knob, BG, headunit, and shift boot just look thrown in there. Needs better flow.

i will personally drive to OH and trade you seats before you ruin yours with that Al Borland fabric...

i dont personally like the look of your deck (but its not my car so take it how you want to)

other than that looks good! how much was the fabric (100% curious, NOT getting any ideas haha)

While I think the seat centers need done to pull the look together I'd hate to see a wonderful set of sport seats potentially ruined.

How did you get the fabric to stretch in the corners? I did this, but ended up folding the corners and I'm not 100% pleased with the look.

Thanks for the mixed comments, I suppose. The headunit it actually a topnotch Pioneer Premier that folds open. I had a better one but got stolen, but this surround will work for it if I choose to replace back to the old/new one. And, yes, the BG is crooked to put 0 straight up so I'm careful not to boost on cold engine. Shift knob is just one laying around to replace worn out one and boot was worn too so this is holding me until I can go with some alcantara when I can afford some (broke ass college graduate with no job yet). Also wanted to wrap all the trim in alcantara too to tie everything together. The fabric was actually not too bad at like $20 for one yard, but shipping and all cost me about $40 total. As far as the corners being laid, I started from the top down and just kinda worked it. It kinda helped that I grabbed the fabric at the top of where it was sticking up and pulled down there to smooth it out, if that makes any sense.

Here's a bit of a close-up of the radio, as well as the one I put in there originally. So thanks for rubbing it back in that I don't have that nice ass one anymore :)

I agree with chopping up the sport cloths, which is why I'm holding off. I am kinda confused on why I have all sport interior on a non-sport model, tho. I just absolutely hate the shitty leather they put in these cars so I'm not going to hack any of those apart just bc they aren't as precious. I'll probably just hold off bc a new turbo is calling my name and wheels and coilovers and...

[o_o] you can sit on your seats on setting 6? I would have to jump out of my car after about 5 mins of them being on because its so damn hot!

my gf said "These seats should just go up to 5, and have a picture of someones ass on fire instead of the number 6" hahah

Fender0122

Actually another reason I want to tear the seats apart is the heating element is bust and doesn't get very hot--I bet it's only got the amount of a 2 maybe 3 on a good day

I guess I'll hop on the hate train for a second...

Yeah dude, the carbon fiber, headunit, and boot area look like it's way out of place. More at home in a JDM setup.

I didnt even need to scroll up to know your the OP.

Regardless of what it may have meant to be it is what it is. And it is shit.

"Thrown together honda" is well stated. It is also kindly worded.

Essentially, posting up your car invigorates these comments.

Well thanks. It's a work in progress and those are things that are soon to be changed. Sorry it's not your taste. But maybe, before you go offending people, you might think "hmm, maybe I won't be a dick today and tell people like it is." You want to give constructive criticism, then thank you. You want to be a dick and use "dildo" in a car forum, then go to the honda forums. And I thought Audi's meant class...

While many may not like the different themes, props for doing something different. If it makes your car feel fresher again, why not switch it up a bit?

I have been wanting to get sport cloth seats again since I sold my first audi 3 years ago, I couldn't find a car with those seats for a good price so I just bought the complete sport cloth interior today for $159 out the door from my new favorite european salvage yard. The picture doesn't do them much justice, they are perfect! only can you get away with having this type of stuff in your room in college:

^nick17, you stole those seats. Nice one.

@OP: I'm digging the plaid. I'm wondering if it would work with my laser red? It would either be really or cool or really awful, I'm not sure.

^nick17, you stole those seats. Nice one.

yeah there are a couple more sets listed on car-part.com in the great lakes area it just said 97 cloth seats on the website and there wasn't a price for them but I was in the area picking up a A4 that I also got a pretty good deal on, and I figured I'd check them out, when he said 150 for the whole set I couldn't turn it down. They were also selling a repairable A4 avant with the Terra-Cotta interior so that car might be my next purchase in a few weeks, as thats another great interior. OP, I'm really liking the plaid as well but then again I had a burberry shift boot on my last car that my friends always made fun of me for.

Oh, well then I might as well show off this honda mod of yours.
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q167/revolution337/2010-08-25210917.jpg
Otherwise, beautiful car but damn way to flame me for one iffy looking mod of mine. Maybe you could be a little more helpful and tell me where you got that microsuede of yours. I can't find good quality stuff anywhere and I'd like to temporarily do my boot till I can get alcantara.

Listen, I don't care about the negative comments bc its a work in progress. I just think it's childish to knock on someone's work. I actually find it funny that I just put that knob on to take the pic bc my stock one is so worn but a much better knob. Plus, I'm not all that happy with the outcome of the radio surround so that'll probably get changed, too.

VMR--Thanks, the different themes will probably look a lot better when I swap the boot out for alcantara and wrap all the trim on the dash and doors, too. I'm going for what A4natomical did:

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f322/redrider629/IMG_4461.jpg

Nick--Man you did get those seats for a steal! Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks the cloth ain't worth shit lol. It is still better than that crappy leather the b5's have.

Walkytalky--My plaid maybe a bit too red for you, but buffalo plaid would actually look pretty sick on a red car:
http://www.firesidelodgefurniture.com/images/attributes/BUFFALO%20PLAID.jpg
I was always wanting this plaid but I couldn't find it and I'm kicking myself for not trying harder to find it.

I think I stated in the thread in which you took that picture from that I found my suede fabric at JoAnn Fabric. Its not the greatest quality, but still seems to be holding up fine for me.

Fender0122
03-29-2011, 06:55 AM
Thanks--I ended up finding some at another JoAnn and yea its not the best but better than what I had for a shift boot. Just curious, how did you do the double-stitching on the boot? There's no way to get the sowing machine through the little hole at the top to finish the last stitch. I certainly don't want to do the last stitch by hand and it look like crap.

On another note, I was basing this whole project on a car I saw a long time ago and could never find the pic again but finally found it in my computer and was amazed to find it seems I have used the same exact material as him.

Not really a fan of anything, but to each his own. The red plaid just seems awkwardly thrown in there with a black interior in a white car.

You think it is childish to knock on someones work? You put the pics on a forum, not everyone will like the outcome but that's the chances you take when you do this. Come on you know people are going to hate just like LED DRL's, and those god awful headlights that people put on the car. Me personally I'm on the fence about the plaid but the golf looks pretty nice, what seats are in there looks like mk4 seats?
