Those are glorious. x3 for pics after install. Those look like what i want to upgrade mine to. They have the LED string under the headlights, like the B7/B8's?

One piece! They should be in next week! I gotta find HIDs for a good price first though so I can install them a little easier

MrPibb
03-02-2011, 04:44 PM
i was just searching around www.ddmtuning.com looking at some HIDs, they were cheap. Not sure on the quality however there is another thread that is talking about them just recently.

03-02-2011, 04:47 PM
I had from ddm in 2 cars and my motorcycle. Never had any issues. But they got rid of the Apexcone kit. It was only $25 and rocked! Now I gotta pay $40 for a thin kit, and idk if it's better or not.

No clue. Thats about as far as my knowledge gets me. lol.

I have had the DDM 55W 6K kit for almost a year without the slightest problem.

auh
03-02-2011, 04:58 PM
So I'm on the fence about what to get. In my bike and last 2 cars I've bought 35w 4500. I'm debating between 4500 or 5k and 35 or 55 watt. I'd really love to see all the options in projector housings

MrPibb
03-02-2011, 05:05 PM
I'd say go with the 55Ws and 5K's they are really typical but they are the best I think. No ricey tint to em and they're bright as hell.

auh
03-02-2011, 05:08 PM
I'm also worried about 55w running hot enough to melt the housing. Not that they feel like low quality but I alway worry about things like that when you have a giant "Made in Taiwan" sticker on the side of the box

MrPibb
03-02-2011, 05:10 PM
Agreed. They aren't glass lenses? Hmmm. I <3 my glass lenses man, i don't think i could go to plastic. lol.
You'd have to get someone to take a lens temp or something for 55W 5000ks and see how hot it gets.

i think you had a spelling error, but i fixed it

auh
03-02-2011, 05:27 PM
They aren't rice at all...they don't have halos and the LEDs are organized in a nice Audi fashion. If they were rice they'd have both Halos and scattered LEDs around every orifice that omitted light inside and outside of the housing. Plus how many other people on this board have them? I know I'm not the only one...

Buy a set of 1 piece ones. The swap is really really easy man. I've done it. Actually. If I buy the transmission off you I'd be willing to help you do it.

Call the dealer and get some headlight plugs for a 2000-2001 first though.

I'm still on the fence on these. I kinda like them and I kinda don't. I need to get new housings soon but I'm not spending the money on E-Codes or anything like that. These might be a good option.

Oh, and FWIW I've been running DDM Tuning HIDs in my car for about a year and a half (the old larger version) with 55W 6k bulbs and they've been fine. I am going to switch to the 5k bulbs at some point though, the 6k are too blue.

people generally only hate on things they cant afford, not those cheap ass things... and the fact that there are "alot of haters and shit talkers" should speak volumes about the general opinion of them. and just because they turn heads, dosent mean they look good.. people also turn their heads at car accidents, and terrifyingly ugly people.

opinions are opinions, but dont be naive and think that you have the best thing since sliced bread.

Everyone has their own taste. And opinion and if you don't like them I understand sometimes I see things I don't like that other will but if it wasn't for that everyone would have the same car and same stuff. I don't say my headlights are the best but they are the best to me and that's all that matters.

I just bought halo lights for my car but realized they didn't fit because of the fender. Did you file the fender down or how did you get them to fit?

auh
03-08-2011, 02:55 PM
They fit because I bought the 96-99 headlight replacements

Just a quick update since my bulbs came in yesterday. Tested then out and my LEDs for some reason don't have power. However the HIDs work! They are clear lenses with orange bulbs.

Sadly, the truth of the matter.

On the other hand, if you catch the right angle, to where the entire front of the car is black with only being able to see the LED strips it looks good as hell, but it just looks way to out of place during the day
