Got the APR flash this weekend. Wow, what a difference. To compliment my chip I ripped the airbox foam outta the intake, nice little satisfying "whoosh". I gotta say, having all sorts of cars in my life, this one does it all pretty well, pretty much in love all over again :)

Congrats. It'd a great mod. I don't remember how my car was stock. I bought it on a Friday and that Sunday I was at waterfest getting my carbonio and APR chip installed.

It is under the air filter beneath a plastic grid in the bottom of the airbox. It is sound deadener- I don't know if it's meant for snow also, I live in TX :)
It is grey foam with little square impressions in it. Not hard to get out- difference is neat- as mentioned I can hear the woosh clearly now under and coming off throttle.

No the screen and the foam are two different things. I ran without both for 10k before just slapping a cone filter on the maf to really get that "woosh"

snow screen is that small rectangular screen filter before the actual OEM air filter
airbox sound deadening material is located on the inside of the OEM airbox, it is black, spongy, and if you are to removed it, its best to take out your airbox as this material rips and flakes very easily when removing it and bits and pieces of that may due damage to your turbo should they get sucked up into it

I assume that's the name for the little screen that sits in the ducting leading to the airbox. Stops debris before it gets to the filter. I pulled mine a few years ago and haven't had problems.

While referred to as a snow screen, I think it's less for snow and more for leaves and crap. So you might want to drive around for a while with it in and see how much it's trapping before you remove it.

Yeah, upon further inspection that screen looks useful, so I am keepin it in.
