I've been searching for a while, and I have not found a very good answer. I want to know how hard the 12v to 30v swap is, actually 30v to 12v but I don't think it should matter. Does anyone know the differences/things that muct be changed to convert?

Reason for 30v to 12v, I want to buy an A4 with a blown 30v, and I have a low mileage 12v in my back yard.

If you have the full harness from the 12V then it should be a direct swap. You'll need the ECU from the 12V too. Check that the ECU harness plugs from the 12V match the shell connectors.

That's it? Cool, that's a relief.

lol yeah yeah. I know throwing in a 12v where a 30v is fail. But screw it, the blown 30v car has new paint, new bearings, etc etc.. and its a 98 so its not as bad as putting a 12v in an 01

Just think I could make a good daily, and since it already has coils, it could be low n slow. And then take my 1.8 to the next level.

why not take the 30v one with a blown motor and take that to the next level... if it has coils and good paint why not vr6 swap it and boost it later on or i know youve been wanting to do a v8 swap

I have the one from the silver car, and no one has even asked about it so I figured I would look for a new car to put it in. Would this guy be interested in the new car if I do the swap?

If a smog test is present in your state, then the swap cannot take place. You can't take an older motor and put it in a newer chassis...only the other way around.

I will waste my time if I want to! lol I don't see it that way anyways.

whats blown about the 30v?

Driver side tensioner went bad, bent valves and smashed pistons, I would probably rebuild the 30v at my leisure.

Illinois does not have a visual. If the ECU doesn't have a problem then I won't have a problem.

Rebuild your 30V. Save your time for something else.

Better option, rebuild your 2.8 heads, buy an S4 block, put heads on block. Buy my supercharger, crank the boost up to 11 PSI

Guys guys, please. I know that it is impractical. I know there are many different options that would be a better use of my time. I also know how much I make and what parts I have readily available. I want to just have the car running for now. What's wrong with just throwing something together for cheap and rockin it? The car is in excellent condition and the engine is low mileage was very well maintained.
