Did you do the change yourself? If so, do a DIY please. I was thinking RED there to go with the RED LED accents in the car.

Iv always been helots of Veedubs for the dials and the chance came up to have them done for free so I went for it.

I'm not sure if you can change the needle because it is red in colour.

Would be nice to know how though, looks like changed bulbs or something?

Can you do a night shot from the back seats to see how it actually does flow with the car?

As nothing else illuminates white in the car other than the digits on the clocks I don't see how changing the colour doesn't flow. Unless you change the digits to red then nothing will flow.

I did the conversion and have done mine too. Its pretty simple and you can change them to any colour you like. I liked the white but always thought it was a little dull looking so by doing this I made them a bit brighter. I realise its each to their own on this one but it does look a lot better when you see it in the flesh. I'll get a night pic of mine for you.

You can change the needle colour too as they use seperate SMD's. You will need to remove the red on the back of the needle and recover them in white but that's easy enough.

If people are interested in this I can do a write up with part numbers for different colours.

i did this to my old car, basically using some alcohol and a q-tip, the red/orange paint comes off, making it nice and clear. Then what ever color bulb/led you placed behide it, will be the new needle color. Great job by the way.

I'm seeing a ton of hotspots in that OP. Maybe it's just the picture, but it's not at all like the OEM lighting which is smooth and consistent. IMO, any benefit of blue dials (which is subjective) would be negated by a sub-OEM result.

There are no hotspots at all. The smds are exactly the same apart from the colour and are fitted in the exact position of the originals. The light is spread perfectly evenly all over.

I'll get the night pic now.

Hmm, I believe top end Jaguars are now using blue . Does not look cheap to me at all

Stubek

I don't think it looks cheap, but with red needles, red numbers below, red in the center stack, the blue just looks out of place to me.

White is a neutral colour and balances out the abundance of red in the car. It's also easy on the eyes for the most important things you're staring at. Blue and red don't really go together in this sense, but I would love to be proven wrong... Night pics + pics of the whole interior lit up [up]

In some instances it can look good, like on the MDX. On an Audi I would keep it red and white. Honestly it doesn't get any fresher than that and could even be considered a selling point on the car.

I love how people are somehow "above" specific color displays. You're in a 5 year old entry level Audi, buddy. People are buying these cars used now for less than a VW rabbit costs new. Try keeping your elitist d-bag attitude in check until you're driving that Bentley around.

It can work. And it works there because it was designed for it. It's like 10% red, 30% blue and 60% white/grey. But I think you already figured that out.

Not button pushing... Just pointing out that your 'high-horse' opinion in this case is retarded. Thanks for keeping it real though, I guess. Also, your 07 is in fact at least 5 years old. An 07 model would have been originally manufactured and purchased in 2006.

The car was bought January 07. Im not trying to pick a fight here people post things and people give opinions thats all i did. I have posted a few things and go some people who gave responses i didnt like but here its not their car and this one isnt mine so if he likes it good for him i was just saying id keep it white.

I looked at doing this but changing the white to red. It looked like you had to putll the display apart and then mess with all the little LEDs that were soddered on there. Was that the case? A DIY would be a nice to have.

I'll put the diy together tonight. I've got a few pics but I'm away and forgot my iPhone cable so can't upload them.

The LEDs are red for the needles so even if you rubbed the paint off the needles they will still illuminate red unless the LEDs are changed unfortunately.

You are right, looking at my own car I now see what I was looking at. What I mistook to be hotspots are actually reflections in the bezel, it looks exactly the same on the stock cluster, the pic just makes it more apparent for whatever reason.

I want to do that now. It'll be interesting to see if we can get "oem" LEDs to make sure it's the exact white in the rest of the gauge. I would hate to put white LEDs and see a hint of blue. If I gotta look at this everytime I drive it better be perfect.
