Bear is quite a stretch for a day drive.

big bear is not a very fast paced drive and I doubt many people would want to drive to big bear. That being said, i dont mind going to big bear on another occasion :D
i vote for all audi once again, we have more fun with all audis...we need to start thinking for the future calender material now :D

Honestly, it would depend on the time-of-day. The late afternoons (4-8PM) are usually the busiest, as that's when the mountains close down, and people head home. If it's on a Saturday, then you would have less traffic.
Anytime in March is great! I vote Angeles Crest.

HA! You made most of the drive the day you came up to Arrowhead to visit!

Audi/vw only perhaps, Sunday is ideal, and Malibu is fine...Angeles Crest closures are very erratic at the moment.... although i think lower tujunga towards Placerita is open...

last weekend of march. audis only. we already did malibu lets change it up a bit

Last weekend of March is my only free one.
Malibu gets done to the point of nausea. Plus there are nearly always traffic jams on most of those canyons on weekends.
Something inland would be good. I'm currently looking for good "ribbons of tarmac" for another project I'm working on so something new (to me at least) would be good.
Keep the ideas coming . . . . . .

X2 - Im def not down for Big Bear.. too far... VW & Audi would be ideal, I want to see some GTI/R32 peeps. Im fine with Malibu, if we want to change it up and someone knows of other great runs that are close that is perfectly fine with me, but I dont want to drive too far (i.e Big Bear), OC or LA would be fine... And March 27th would be fine with me..

March 19-20 is HPDE in pahrump, just as a heads up. I'd be game for Angeles, haven't gotten to see it yet. Doubt I could convince you LA people to do a Walker pass/lake isabella run :P

Coincidentally, on monday when i had my A3 towed to Keyes Audi (hose popped off the turbo- nothing major) I was conversing w/ the flatbed driver and conversation came about the kind of cars they tow, etc. Got into conversation about lowered cars etc and he was talking about
a nice white Gti that he had a call on about few weeks ago in Mullholland... HE was so stoked when i showed him the photo of the golf/gti that
had a wipe out on our last cruise and he said "THAT WAS THE GUY!!!".. [:D]

Mich... if you plan another cruise on a date that I can't attend, I'm going to kill you. That being said, the last weekend of March looks wide open for me, so either day works. I like going to the Beach, don't care how many times I do it, it's always just as fun the next time. Plus, Neptunes Net is always worth the drive. Besides, this is a cruise, not a timed canyon run, what a better way to enjoy a fun cruise than enjoying the roads on the way to Malibu, and then finish off with the picturesque background of the Pacific Ocean.
PS anyone nominating Big Bear for a day cruise should be banned (I realize it was the mod who suggested it so please don't ban me :D )

PLEASE NO VW!!
a bunch of beat up GTI and Jettas, that crash into the mountain side at the first tight corner
this will keep the pack small, hate idling at intersections…
With all audi and a smaller pack we can stick to a good pace.
BrandonF
02-25-2011, 12:10 PM
My vote goes to all Audi. If somebody has a friend with a GTi that wants to show up, I don't see a problem with a VW or two. I agree with keeping the pack smaller. We can break off into two groups that helps keep things tight.
Michel- if you want help with mapping out the route I got a couple in mind, that is if we are doing malibu. I got a "scenic route" or a "drivers route."

not completely sidetracking here, but for future considerations,
anyone thought of a sunset/twilight easy cruise/drive- although this may require far more intricate planning- avoiding traffic laiden routes, but at the same time maximizing exposure (i mean c'mon, i think we liked being seen in our cars right ? lol ) also finding well lit routes for photo ops, and perhaps a final dinner destination, affordable of course!
Just thought id throw that in. Summer is coming, and twilights are getting longer =)

Sidetracking is ok in my book! So are sunset cruises. Sounds like fun. Love having the windows down when it's warm, and listening to the V8 roar.

Someone needs to setup a pole/vote with a couple of different days and maybe a couple of different locations. That way people can have their say without hammering points with posts. Most votes wins.....

Can we all agree that it really doesn't matter, as long the core group of Audi's are there. I'm getting kinda sick of the whole audi vs. non audi thing. We just wanna cruise and take some pics.

Hopefully I'll be in the country on March 27th and have some new tires and pads put in. Have you guys ever gone through Mulholland Drive and thru "the Snake" There are some guys that take pictures of bikers and cars as they drive through on Saturdays I believe (rockstorephotos.com) I think it'll be a cool route to go through since it's almost like Disneyland where they take your picture on Splash Mountain and you can order pictures of yourself. lol. It should be a pretty fun and interesting route if everyone is going at an easy peasy pace. Just becareful and stay in your lane since you don't want to accidentally hit any motorcyclists or anything.
