The avant I'm getting doesn't have heated seats, which is not an option for me up in minnesota with leatherette.... I'm curious what can be done to change this? Car is a 99 avant. I once heard that either every car or every seat was wired for it... I'm curious if anyone has heard this too? Any help would be appreciated!

Not sure I have the exact answer to your question, but in Vermont if you have leather you have to have heated seats! Local shop does good install job with lighted switches and 2 position heat for $200 each... worth every penny.

I wish they were pre- wired, but they are not. Interior harness swaps are NOT fun.

adding heated seats is really easy. Get heated seats, Go to the junkyard and get either the heated seat switches or the heated seat cc(depending on 99 or 99.5) then hack the wire from the switch to the seat and install in your car. About 2 hours of work. It is easy.

Thats what i was thinking... its not a NEW car by any means... 12 year old car were talking about. Doesnt have to per perfect lol. I might just give it a shot. ONLY if i can find sport cloth seats though... maybe i will contact the guy my friend sold his a4 to and see if he wants to swap for some awesome 'leather' seats! ha

or i could go with a4rob's idea and get a blanket or this

I went with heated s4 seats. They are only about 600 bucks and definitely worth it.
