RS4 Wheel Question - Good Deal?

Guys -

I just found someone selling a set of 18" RS4 wheels with tires (he claims 80% remaining on fronts, rears may need to be replaced due to rubbing from the suspension in his S4) for $400. He said there's very minor curb rash on one of the rims but they're not bent or dented or anything.

Is this a good deal?

nearly positive that stock RS4 wheels are too wide to fit on our cars. if you want rs4 looking wheels you will have to get replicas. VMR and Hartmann make good versions of it

The guy listed them as genuine wheels but he then said the tire size is only 225/45/18 which I thought is pretty thin. Pics don't look like the rim sticks out from the tire at all.. so that would fit.. right?

theyre aftermarket wheels..they arent exact rs4 wheels- because rs4's come 19...audi did make rs4 style wheels in 18 in though. regardless- idk what ves is saying but of course they'll fit...for 400 just take them

People are f'ing dumb. Guy last night (at 945pm) says "pick them up tonight for $400". I told him that I have to wake up really early but I can pick them up tomorrow.

Today he says "Oh, that price was for last night only. Today they're $500." Afraid I'm going to have to walk from the sale on principal... :-/

Dont buy that crap, most likely they are replicas, like deeznuts said Oem rs4 came in 19"s. And u can buy a set of new replicas for $400-500 from Ebay. I saw clowns on my local CL trying to replicas for $1000, when I clearly knew where the same exact wheels can be bought for $400 haha
Tell him to send you a pic of part number engraved on the wheel and see what he says.

rofl. I've got a feeling like they're going to be beat to shit or something.. the guy said he doesn't have pics on his phone (who the hell doesn't have a camera phone)... so I'm going to go, strapped... it's all just a little shady.

That would be really funny but the poor guy is driving 45mins to show them to me.. I can't stand him up. I have a pretty good feeling that I'll be walking away though - unless they're REALLY nice.. but I'm doubtful.

He wouldn't send me pics of the wheels last night but listed them as kind of a gun-metal color (like the RS4 wheels tend to be) I get there and he's a skinny young white kid with his uncle. They're pretty crappy - they have rock chips (definitely replicas) and curb rash. The rear two tires were showing the actual threads from the tires because his lowered S4's control arm was rubbing (awesome). I told him I'd give him 450 and walked in the bank.

I started thinking while I was in there and realized those were not what I wanted and I could do better. I went back out and explained that they weren't the color I thought they were going to be (not what he listed) and that I was going to pass. I figured I should put $450 toward a set of new rims rather than those.

We parted ways and my friend and I got in my truck and drove off. About five minutes pass and I get a text:

"Thanks man your a freakin douche making me drive all the way here screw u and your white f*get friend"
to which I replied:

"Learn to fucking spell. You had every opportunity to send me pics of the actual wheels but you didn't. Not to mention changing the price on me. I understand your anger - I remember how it was to go through puberty. It's tough"

Him:

"Ya ok ***et...come back I will beat u and blow your knees"

Me:

"Mmk"

Wow.. people are dumb. Seriously. But now I really want a nice set of RS4 wheels :-D...

Thoughts on any of this, anyone?!

Yeah - Craigslist. Complete chump but I was kind of expecting it.

I'll keep my eyes open on the classifieds here on AZ and see if I can't find something I like. I really like the black onyx version of the 708's VMR has. Does anyone know of where I can find a pic of those on a DG a4?

Sorry guys - don't mean to bring this back from the dead (ok, fine - I do, sorry).. but I decided to buy these: Clicky Click (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330533529537&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT#ht_504wt_992)

I know they're a bit beaten up but I've refinished rims before and I think they'll come out pretty nice. I think I'll have a local body shop mix up some high quality paint for me and use my air compressor w/ paint spray attachment to make them look like new again. Unless anyone knows of any spray paint that matches this exactly?

Anyone know of any pics of 19" RS4 reps on stock sport b7 suspension? If not, it's all good. I searched but didn't really find what I was looking for. I'm not too keen on lowering the car too much but I suppose I would if I absolutely have to. We'll see how it looks.

just look at VMR's gallery on thier website.....there are quite a bit of people running these wheels on this forum but VMR gallery is the easiest way to find tons of pictures of lowered cars on RS4 replicas
