I don't ride on 2 wheels, but if you're looking for some canyon runs with a lot of high speed turns, check out Highway 33 in Ojai, CA
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=ojai,+ca&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=56.200193,134.912109&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Ojai,+Ventura,+California&ll=34.591389,-119.272385&spn=0.462383,1.054001&z=11
Its definitely worth the drive all the way up there and a lot less traffic compared to Muholland Drive area...

I dont ride anymore but Palomar Mt. is always overrun with bikes on the weekends. Also if your looking to do track days look up fasttrackriders.com . they always have good deals on track days and they are doin them a couple of times a month.

Used to ride Palomar and Borrego and Julian every other weekend.
Several track days at Willow (streets and big track).
Sold it for a house...
It was a 1995 Ducati 916 with all sort of carbon goodies and Marchesini magnesium rims, vented clutch, Termignoni slip ons, the noise was great!
My neighbors hated me on Sunday at 7AM...

I am not fond of the Ortega as at the top, there are ZERO guard rails!!
So if you f@ck up, there is a very long drop that most do not survive, if they find you.
Have you tried Pahrump? Very open, lots of run off area, nothing tricky, but I was told that it can be windy there...

Used to ride as well...but it's been oh so long! Had myself a CBR600 F3 back in my hayday. Loved cruising all the mountains. HWY 39 at that point was still open all the way up to Angeles Crest. What a ride! Now GMR, GRR, and Azusa Canyon are not only filled with too many people, but lots of CHP as well.

Ben, yea i did notice that at Ortega, we mainly did the inside of the canyon not the back side (Elsinore side). My buddy has done Parhump, its also one of the few that offer an open track all day, which means only A and B riders allowed....NO 20 minute sessions. You go in and out as you please.
SoCal, yeah seems like most have sold their bikes because of home purchases, babies, etc. Yea i did GMR before very technical. CHPs not to crazy there but the front side of Asuza, forget it! way too many cars and cops.

i used to ride streets until I got rear ended on the fwy. now I just try and do track days. haven't had much time because of the kids but I was supposed to start racing WSMC last year. My bike is a straight race bike now and I'm going to try and race this year but throw in more track days as well. if you haven't heard, socalmoto.org bunch of folks who are racers and hit the canyons. here's the slow bike!

I was the slowest out there!! Had been a year and a half since I rode it and then went out to the new racers school for trackdaz.com. was fun though...

minira Awsome! Yea i had a couple of buddies doing the WSMC but dam its pricey! your looking at minumum 1500 a month to keep the bike up and all the fuel, food and time expenses. Its fun though. Yea im trying to do only trackdays now, my buddy convinced me to go out to Ortega, i know the risks of riding up there. about two years ago i highsided at buttonwillow, im glad i did there than the canyons lol. You bike looks sweet from what i see its an 05 ZX6 636? looks like a Akro on there? I wasnt aware tackdaz had a racer school. Where in chino are you at?

Oh cool, you're not that far I probably have seen you riding around. The wifey and I are thinking of moving into the eastvale area probably next year. There is a jack in the crack, I'm right next to the cows! I'd say lets go riding but I'm lazy to convert back to street plus it's non-op'd.

layed it down on palomar. was comin down tight side at about 75 and ran out of tire around a tight right hander. Bike slid out hit the guardrail flipped cracked the frame and was totally destroyed. I was in full race gear and only had some bruises but was kinda a wakeup call to the was I was riding and how dangerous it actually was.

B5 damn, sorry to hear bout the wreck, get a bike and just take it to the track! I don't ride the streets anymore, maybe in the future.

I would love to get another one but that will have to wait till after Medical school. The Mrs. said she'd buy me a new ducati as a graduation gift so to keep me happy until then I sold the B5 and got myself the B7 S4 avant to play with :)
