So...I just bought a B7 S-Line wheel to retrofit into my B6 6-sp. I bought one with paddles thinking that they can be removed. Now, after seeing a pic of the back, it looks like I might have made an "error." So...can paddles be easily enough removed, or.....dammit.

dremel tool dawg.....chances are you'll never see where you chopped the paddles off because of the way the wheel will sit in your car

As you can see illustrated in this diagram, parts 6 & 7 (tiptronic paddles) can be purchased separately. Based on that, I assume you would be able to install or uninstall the part from the steering wheel.

STOP STOP STOP....don't dremel, for anyone to suggest that is just looking for you to fuck up your steering wheel, dremels are for hobby work and torturing terrorits and traitors....take the air bag off, and you'll see how it comes apart, you can remove the paddles...

That is awesome... can you go to the dealer and just get paddles and install them on your regular steering wheel? I guess you need to do some VAG-COMing?

no, the steering wheel needs to have already come with paddles...you can't just add them as the construction is different....you have to swap in the proper steering wheel. After that you need to use a vagcom to turn on the paddles.

^^technically, the steering wheels are the same, you could "cut" the holes in the back to make it fit...it would be a waste of time and effort, but you could in theory do it....I have a non paddles and a paddle steering wheel and observed them to be almost identical, I could be wrong though.

regardless, op buy those covers for the rear or trade someone here on this section for a non paddle.
