hey guys, hope all is well. i just got a 2007 sline a4 quattro AUTOMATIC!!!(sux, but im in sales)
love the car totally pumped its dolphin gray.
have been lurking here for a while a buddy of mine is one here with a b6 s4.
Only thing i have done so far is tint the windows, snub mount and just keep it clean!

none the less last sunday my son threw a hotwheels car at my rsn e and cracked the screen.
i have searched everywhere i can think of online and am hearing different things everywhere.
audi of riverside is telling me that i can not replace the screen, i have to replace the whole unit and because my screen is f****d it can not be deemed a "core" thus costing me like $2500 installed.
i have seen some posts to where people are replacing the screens. has anyone had any actual expierence in this or is it all hearsay. any input would be greatly appreciated!

The easiest way is to buy a used US RNS-E and swap it. It should be plug and play, like cheemn said, the going rate for a used RNS-E is around $700, $600ish if you shop around (ebay and such). You can also sell your unit too, it should still worth 2-300 even with a cracked screen. After everything said and done, you'll be good to go for around $3-400 out of pocket, alot better than $2.5k the stealership charges....

btw, there are RNS-E screen available on ebay from time to time, but it's pretty expensive, the last one I saw was $300! swapping the unit is a far better choice.

ya im totally stoked on the car for sure. i love it. i have been VERY happy with it.
why do you guys think it would be easier to do the unit swap for ~$650 opposed to a screen swap for ~$300?...................just curious.

you can source the screen (which is the entire front peice that slides up and down when you insert a disc) i belive haggie has them over on audiforums.us for like $300 and he even includes a quick 10 minuete video on how to swap it.
