you using a tripod? Pics are fking amazing but kinda looks like you were juat holding the camera im your hand to me (which isnt ok at night because the shutter is slower than your pulse which means that you are guaranteed to have a little shake during the shot)

1st 2 are my favs but all turmed out excellent.... Any insight as to how to do this? I have a rebel xti and have never attempted this but really want to now. Post up a good diy? ;)

Yes I was using a tripod and if you would like to learn how to take hdrs there is a lot of places on the web that are really diy

gotya, will do! what programs do you use?

Photomatix pro bridged to ps is the best way to do HDRs.

As for everyone liking the first, I'm not a huge fan of the first photo. There seems to be a halo effect on some of the buildings (atleast on the laptop, it might not be on the calibrated LCD I have back in my room for photos). The second and third photos, have hot spots on the fender/trunk, which are a tad bit distracting as the high lights seem to be slightly blown out. Also, the white balance seems very off in the HDR, especially because the silver car is blue, haha.

Were you using any off camera strobs? I'm a photography major + freelance, so photos + cars are always fun to look over, shoot, and critique each other with.

edit: Pull, were these originally shot in RAW or jpg? If they were shot in RAW, would you mind sending me the photos? I'd love to try and redo the HDR and fix the white balance. No offense, I just love tweaking with photo, if you don't want me to and dont want to send me the originals, thats fine, too. But once again, all my marks are critiques from one photog to another, and I do hope I havent offended you.

Haha no man your all good. No off camera shirt lens and a quick hdr edit and post it was foggy as hell out and I was parked right under a really freaking bright street light. I didn't shoot in raw I totally for got to. And if you look at the hdr on a hd monitor or at least on mine it doesn't look blue at all

I wish I had the money to dual a 32" LCD TV mmmmm but I just bought a Canon 16-35L f2.8 II so no money :( plus Im saving up for a 70-200 f4L nonIS lol. Yes I speak canonese. I swear photography is more expensive than car modifications.

Haha so your a cannon person. Im aa nikon person. :) yeah man um saving up for either a 8.5mm or a 12-24 f4. Sovi hear you on how freaking pricy everything is. You like your 16-35?

geeky
02-03-2011, 06:13 PM
I just picked up the 16-35L tonight. SO EXCITED. I'm on a crop body (50D/20D backup) so its a 1.6x crop factor but the 16-35L looks AMAZING. The IQ is spot on at 100% crop. Are you thinking about the Tokina 12-24 f4? If I were you, and you're looking into a UWA I'd rather pickup the Tokina 11-16 f2.8. Definitely for the aperture and if you really don't reach of the 24, go for the 11-16, its a BEAUTIFUL lens.

I tried using a Nikon for a shoot and felt like a blind man sitting behind a veyron. Wasnt sure how to go about doing anything with it.

edit: Thinking that I might just ditch the 70-200 funds and make it into a 5D classic, I want FULL FRAMEEEEEE.

02-03-2011, 06:21 PM
haha nice dude yeah with the 12-24 i have heard a lot better things with it for the money then the 11-16. im also looking at the the 8.5mm fish eye for a fun toy lens for and its only 295 bucks so
full frame would be so nice i have a friend that is looking to get ride of his d3 so i might get it depending on taxes and all
but yeah that is how i feel like behind a cannon no idea how to use anything

I have yet to shoot with one, but I hear the 17-40L f/4 is also a sexy beast lens, anyone shot with it? I've seen some shots at f/9 or f/11 that just look freakin gorgeous!
