What's up guys. So I want to do the oem big brake kit from Ecs. It's the kit that just has there rotors and the Schwaben Brake Caliper Carriers. Are those carriers an oem part? anywhere they sell them that someone would no?

you are buying the s4 brake kit, find a used set for much less.

you will need carrier, rotors and you retain your same pads.

I've looked for used sets I can't find any. So that kit keeps the same brake pads?

i just did this upgrade, i bought s4 front rotors and the schwaben carriers. But there is an issue. Though the calipers should be the same, they are not. You'll have to either grind the a4 caliper for clearence or find a pair of s4 front calipers. The inner curve of the a4 calipers are tighter (smaller radius) and they make contact with the edge face of the rotor(where the venting is). That is even with the scwahben carrier. I was lucky enough to test an oem s4 carrier (from a friend) and the schwabens i bought. and still the a4 caliper made contact. The s4 calipers that a friend gave me, worked like a charm. Now there may have been a rolling change, or something. But this is my experience.

I had the EXACT same issue! I ordered a set of 345mm Cross-drilled front rotors, with satin black hubs, and matching stock size rear rotors from Adams Rotors, and picked up a set of used Schwaben carriers. Upon initial installation I immediately noticed we had a clearance issue. We had to clearance my stock calipers at either end so the rotor could spin freely. I've had it on the car for about 5K miles now, with no issues. The 345mm rotors really fill up the wheels and look sharp behind the Gunmetal 18" V710's.

a4/s4 calipers are the exact same (I did this upgrade before my bbk)....you just need the carrier, it appears from the above 2 posts that the schwaben carrier may be an issue.

I have the OEM s4 carriers and have been running this set up with OEM or plain rotors and never had any issue. It sounds like a aftermarket carrier issue or aftermarket rotor issue.

nope. because I personally test mounted both the schwaben carriers and oem S4 carriers. both showed the same issue. The calipers i had did not match the s4 calipers either. They physically looked different, and they had different part #'s Also to double check, I checked using ETKA to look up part #'s and they are different. Also, i measured hole distances on both (schwaben and OEM) carriers, and they were the same.

The rotors i used were from adam's, I even matched these up to stock s4 rotors. and they are the same diameter also. Adam's does say they use OEM/OEM supplier blanks to make their rotors.

These look beef though through my stock 17" winter setup.

I have heard there are small differences between the b6 and b7 s4 calipers.

I had the same issue and I tried both OEM and ECS carriers. I had to buy a Dremel and shave the inside edge of the caliper.

Good post the keep in note!!!

schwaben + Stock caliper = no win unless you grind them

Pics of the BBK and 17" wheels!?!?

I have ran the 345mm rotors with a few OEM 17x8 wheels and never had a problem with clearance. I would think from looking at it that any 17" OEM wheel will work.

Fine, even with the BBK I'll still be able to put my winter wheel!!!

Hey I'm having the exact issue with the grinding. I posted up over here.

Can you guys show me where to grind the caliper? I'm guessing it's at both ends of the caliper where it wraps over the rotors.
