Opinion's Please (Test Pipe Material)

Birthday is coming up in March and was thinking about a test pipe for my birthday.. (I'm 17 so yes my parents still get me things) Now here are (what I believe to be) my options.
1. Mufflers
2. VMR Test Pipe
A full exhaust is just to expensive right now, should I try to get some magnaflow 14851's welded on there along with a test pipe? Or just get a test pipe and leave the mufflers? Or just mufflers? Any suggestions are welcome and much appreciated. Two quick questions, I know this has been answered before but.. 1. What will I need to not get a CEL? 2. Is a tune necessary? Again, I know they have been answered before but I would just like to get this figured out ASAP

just get an ebay test pipe and install it...screw mufflers and save up for when u can afford a full exhaust, or just cut out your resonators. You can try installing a spacer in the o2 sensor but 90% of the time it doesn't work so a tune is usually necessary to delete the code.

If you get a test-pipe, Stage 2 file get's rid of the CEL. VMR Test-pipe is priced but good. If you plan on getting exhaust later just leave it as is, no need to do double the work.

Get a 034 HFC....yes it's more but you won't be labeled that "that annoying kid with the loud Audi mom and dad bought". Not hating on you... when I was your age my folks helped me with my hobbies too. The hfc is stealthy but at WOT mated to your stock exhaust it's really pleasing to the ears.

Got mine in like 2 weeks ago, the smell is definitely noticeable for the first week then it barely smells after that. The gain is really noticeable I must say. No one mentioned a DP?

Back in the day, this is what I did. Just a VMR TP with Magna-flow mufflers on my stock exhaust. Didn't love it but it was very cheap and gave the look in the rear that I was looking for.

Don't waste money on any part for the exhaust until you get chipped. The difference you will receive from just a TP is not noticeable as far as performance, and the difference in sound will just leave you wishing you had more. Get a stage 1 chip, that will be far more fun and noticeable than any first mod you can possibly do. REVO FTW! Ask for Visa gift cards for presents and see what they add up to.

Reason being my car came with a magnaflow exhaust and I'm wanting to go APR, but not sure if its worth it to go stage 1 with no TP and HFC or get either one and go stage 2. I'm pretty confident I won't want to go stage 2+ or 3 with this car, so figured I just get the car flashed and called it a day. Any opinions?

If you have the TP/HFC go Stage 2. If you don't, go Stage 1 and get the Stage 2 flash later for free when you get the parts.

I liked the sound of 034 HFC + Stock exhaust + BSR intake...... spool is much louder with the intake and the HFC gave a good grunt to the exhaust

i had the VMR test pipe on my car with no tune for a month or two. i didn't regret doing it, but i was much happier when i got the stage 2+ tune.
