Waiting for PES to finish the tune. Shipped it out last Monday, they were working on it on Friday. Just a few small hitches they ran into that they are trying to work out before sending it back to me. At that point it's pretty much plug in and go.

Will do. I'm afraid my review will not be very accurate though. I have a G1 supercharger which is no longer available and a tune from a G2 modified to work on a G1 and then they are modifying it further to use S4 injectors lol. So over all it's a totally 1 off setup.

Enjoy the instant boost of the roots style blower. They are fun. You plan on pushing the limits with smaller upper and bigger lower pulleys or just going to rock with what it is?

somebody5788
01-09-2011, 08:23 AM
Well I've seen what happens when you push too hard... A 2.9" pulley will suit me fine at 8psi till I can look into building an engine

Over the next couple years I'll get a 2.7 block, 3.0 crank, 8.5:1 pistons (with 3.0 crank I think they would be more like 9:1. I just don't know how to tell) keep the 2.8 heads, RS4 intake manifold, and I'd LOVE to go twin charged LOL. Twin K03's with supercharger =D. I have no idea what that would do. But the bypass valve could be rigged to bypass the supercharger for the top end of the turbos. I'm probably just dreaming now though

you'll have to get specific 3.0 stroker pistons for the 2.7, which will have their own CR. If you got 8.5's that were 3.0 crank specific for the 2.7, they'd stay 8.5:1 (unless you do a head with a different chamber or something like that.)

Should be nice building, i think that comes to 2.9 if you fully bore the 2.7 with a 3.0 crank.. but it should be rather nice for a daily.

Are there any gains in porting that charger? Is it a Eaton or something else? I haven't looked at any of the chargers for the 2.8's, as I dont have one.

So I went to replace my cam seals. Got one cam gear off with minor prying, get the next one off. SWEET, NOT! it flew off and hit my radiator and I now have 2 little holes in it.... Oh and was lookin at the water pump, 30k miles on it and its already shot........ WTF! It's the same one we use in all the cars we do at the shop and we've not run into this before. I'm extremely thankful I found out now but damn.

So basically my entire cooling system is being replaced. Radiator, water pump, thermostat, oil cooler hoses, oil cooler seal, expansion tank, cap, my radiator hoses look fine so I'm leaving them. Not a bad thing since the previous owner switched it to green coolant and now I get to do a good flush and go with the G12 but man.. this is becoming quite a job lol. I'm putting more attention then I should into the little details but I want this thing to look good and perform well lol.

Soooo did not want to dump $470 more into this thing..... but the water pump failed 60,000 miles early. So I'm doing the full timing belt kit while I'm at it even though I only have 30,000 miles on all of that stuff. I'm just lucky that it didn't get to the point of seizing and snapping my timing belt yet. As I posted in another thread the A/C compressor clutch is shot. Put a hole in the radiator on accident. Fun times... But since I'm ordering some more big ticket items I decided to get a new coolant reservoir so it's all nice and white

If you do go twin charged, no point in using K03's as a twin charge system usually uses the supercharger for down low and the turbo's for up high and the k03's run out of breath.

i assume this is your 'end' goal? i believe 4rings on scaudi.com came up with either 237 or 247awhp, i cant remember which. on a built engine.

that boost level is a good idea. i know that you are not running an origional G1 kit, but hey, if anyone else ends up finds a G1 to slap on, your route is what will probally what will be followed in terms of tuning and operation, so review away!

sucks about the TB kit. good luck with that. take your time lining everything up, believe me.

98% of it is the original G1. The only thing that isn't is the air filter setup and the tune as well as which injectors I'm using. I was thinking though, if the tune he's writing turns out pretty good then the bigger injectors would be great for guys that are upping the PSI on their built 2.8's. As it is when they go to 10 PSI they've hit 100% duty cycle... At least I think so.

Timing belts are a piece of cake on these, I was already in there so It's as easy as putting it all together lol. I like that I'll know my timing is 100% dead on. Last time was the first time me or my dad had done one and so we kinda just guessed. We were spot on then too but I never really knew that till now.

with the way they have the supercharger set up, wouldnt it have been easier to use a rotrex supercharger, or something similar?

also, why not run a small Intercooler, since the S/C isn't sitting on the intake manifold?

FMIC coming in the spring.

As far as using a Centrifigul supercharger, this kit was built in like 98-99 so it was a little early for those. It could be much much easier but you just wouldnt have this when you were done =P

hahahaha. Ya....... worst case scenario I sell the kit and buy a G2. This thing's still worth $2100!!!! Maybe more since it's a custom tune and if I get an SAFC or PSC1 on it and dial it in perfect it would be worth more. It's perfect for guys with built engines as you can raise the boost to 11-12 PSI and not be maxing the injectors that I am using.

Beam pattern and the housing rusts. They are designed to be a flat cut off but they just don't project more then 3 feet.

Question my initial purchase, and modding of my 1.8t. when I could have something that not many people have with a flatter torque curve and great sound.

Right, lol. It does sound good, but I could see that getting annoying after a while. Especially if the car is a DD. Engine bay looks really nice though. Good work!

Lol so one of the local church's pastor brings his cars in here where I work. I usually give him a ride back in my car. He always is asking me about the car and this time he's like "So, don't over do it but I'd kinda like to see how much power it has" big grin hahahahahaha

Hahahaha. It echo's off buildings for like half a mile! It's insane! People that aren't into Audi's keep saying they had a water pump going bad that sounded just like it. Or their vacuum cleaner sounds the same.

Also good to see the little "knocking" noise that I suspected was just the gears in the supercharger is in fact just that and not my engine lmfao. I can hear it in yours too.

And really, a 3" exhaust should not be quiet in comparison to a supercharger =P
