View Full Version : Blacking out Grill and Trunk Badge?
I just got my A4 last month and I want to something to it that isn't too pricy, but has a nice effect. I just can't decide whether to black out whole grill or just the Audi badge. Also my car is black, so I'm not sure how black trunk rings on a black car would look. Any opinions?

Mine's black too. I think Im going to do black out grille and black out trunk strip. Im hoping I can paint the trunk piece myself... maybe the grille too?
Ive seen a couple of black cars on here that look great that way, but I am a little worried about leaving the window trim chrome.
I thought black would be great and I find myself having a really hard time deciding how to do the cosmetic stuff. Even wheels are difficult to chose for black.
en22 are you planning on leaving the rest chrome?

I have a Phantom black B7, I used plastidip for the front grille and the trunk rings. For the trunk rings, I purchased a spare set from the dealer to plastidip (>$40) I also used the BMW shadowline matte black vinyl for the rear trunk trim. For the front grille, it was only used on the trim and rings, and the license plate holder.
No rings:

Nice ride PPLAPW.
I am planning on leaving the rest chrome, only because I'm not sure how to black out the grill trim and the rest, but if I were to figure out I would definitely prefer to black out as much as I can

Are you trunk rings a gloss black or a matte black? I'm planning on buying spare rings from the internet and would like it to look like yours.

Its a matte black, just plain old black plastidip such as this one:

You'll find many threads on this stuff too. [drive]

I have a sheet of glossy black bmwshadowline that will cover the entire front grille. I had a huge sheet and did my grille and the remaining is enough to cover one more grille. I'll post an ad in the classifieds and link back here if you are interested.
wow, the black out rings looks sweet. Im gonna do the same. i vinyl wrapped my grill about two years ago, still looks like new. need to wrap the boot strip
weekend diy coming up

IMO, blacking out the front rings looks pretty ricer. From more than 10 feet away it looks like they fell off/got stolen. My vote: Front leave the rings chrome. Back look good stock or gloss black.
